Thanks. She is just about 2 yo. I have been giving poultry vits with Bs for the past couple weeks. She doesn't seem to have pain in her legs so I was concerned about vitamins.
Thanks for the advice

This is my hen Fluff. She was walking instead for a couple days about two weeks ago. I brought her in to my in house infirmary(dog crate) for observation and rest. At first, I checked for bound egg, injury, bumble foot and kept her away from the others just in case it was Contagious. Two...
I need advice. I've had one hen hatch out 3 chicks earlier in the spring. I left them with her in the coop on a wire dog crate until they were older(3 weeks). I need up losing them all.
Then, I had a gosling hatch out too...missing too!
Now I have 4 broody hens, today one of them has 2...
My broody girl Smokie had a little peeper today. I found her pecking at a dead chick that appeared to not survive the hatch. She did do something odd. She left the little one peeping away and alone for 10-15 minutes. I took the chick into my brooder for a bit. Once she returned to the nest I...
Ok, I think that chick is just a day old. She is still acting broody but, ran a little further and longer than I liked. So, I used a large wire dog kennel to create a caged in area attached to her nest. I have food and chick starter in there for them. I will see how tomorrow goes. Hopefully we...
Ok, do I put food and water in with them? Or let them out to eat? We only have one chick in the moment. Waiting for others to hatch out. Should I move her, all the eggs and the new chick?
Update: she left the baby so long I brought "it" in to keep warm under the brooder. But, after 5-10 mins age was back on her nest. So, I took the chick back out to her...she let him snuggle in. I hope her leaving him isn't a sign of not being a good mommy. Maybe, I am too helicopter-ish?
Hi,
I had a broody hen sitting for the past few weeks. We found the first 2 fluffy butts this morning. Sadly, one was dead. The one survivor she left in the nest for an extended time. Should I bring the little one in to a brooder? It's still a bit cool here and they are in a nest box in the coop.
Thanks for the reassurance! I went out to close everything up for the evening and found two beauties in the nest boxes. I guess at least a couple ladies are back in business, lol.
I have a mixed flock; buff orpintons, red stars, speckled Sussex, delwares, rhode Islands and unknown (light gray...
Hi,
My 17 week old chickens had started laying(well a few were) I was getting 1-2 eggs per day for about a week or so. Then I saw a soft shell egg. Now nothing!
I started them on layer feed this weekend and they have oyster shell. I am worried if they are on layer pellets when they have...
My Polly didn't make it. I am sad. I am sure it was some type of crop issue. But, to ensure everyone else is safe in the coop I guess I have to see what I can determine post-Mortum
She has been in the indoor pen for several hours. I only have water for her but, just now she already seemed a bit more perky. She actually squawked at me when I picked her up to clean her pen. I am wondering if it was sour crop or just a slow crop. I will start probiotics if all goes well...
Hi,
My hen Polly was acting abnormal sitting by herself and walking very slowly. When I exams her, she had a large squishy crop. I did check for a bound egg but, nothing. In reading here I did 'vomit' her. A large amount of water and feed came out quickly. I felt horrible! She isn't drinking...
Today we found our first egg!!! My girls are only 15 weeks old. It's tiny but, I am very excited. My roo "Pepper" is mounting them but, they haven't been going for his advances .[/IMG]
What is everyone feeding their geese? I have them forage but, provide a feed. I am guessing my DH picked up the wrong thing. I had them on layer pellets. The food he picked up appears to be a chicken food small grains. I am finding lots of food in the bottom of their water which is new. Thoughts?
