Thank you! That makes me feel so much better. It was bad they have lost most of their combs I look at them and can't believe how bad they look. The leghorns combs are fine and theirs are big too!
@Mother2Hens
I really love them too. I have a pair, had a trio we lost one of the hens. This has been a year of learning. Most have done really well. But we have lost a few. I think I like chickens with less comb like orphingtons and cochins, even the bielfelders, because they are cold hardy. We...
No it zipped fast. I was surprised. Although I had to help both of the last two bantam orphingtons hatch I think the changes in temps and humidity throw things off.
It's a grey call. They are so friendly. I have my pair in with a pair of bantam Phoenix chickens and that rooster is supper confrontational with all other chickens but the duck. I am getting ready to set some more. I'm excited.
I just want to say after catching up on the thread I loved all the pictures! So in that spirit I would like to share some of my hatches from this winter.
These are from my red Pyle modern games
Here is my chocolate bantam orphington chicks of various ages.
This is my lone bantam call...
I have a cockerel he is supper sweet two. Picked him up and a few extras at the ohio nationals in the fall. Message me and I can send picks if you'd like:).
I grew up in the house my dad grew up in. It was a big old farm house built in the late 1800's or very early 1900's. Or maybe it seemed big to me:) It had a dirt floor basement, a gigantic cast iron wood burning furnace and all the rooms were big. It had an attached wood shed next to the summer...
I know that is what I have always heard. He has been frisky with his ladies since bring them home. Maybe the Phoenix challenged him and he bit his like point off. My DH was upset he went just to find one. He likes the chickens I think are impractical. I really enjoyed the show in ohio. A lot of...
Not sure if u were still looking for barred rocks. Found this and thought maybe it would work for you:) I noticed they ship eggs and u are the master hatcher! BTW the add is from the ABA yearbook.
Hey everyone:) I have been so busy with outside projects that I haven't been on. Nice Phoenix. I bought a pair at the ohio nationals and went to check them this morning and he is now missing a piece of comb. And they say orphingtons are nice. He bit my sons 4h project:( both are bantams) I...
Are u sure that isn't a bielefelder? They have small combs. Here is a picture from greenfire farm's website of one.
Their tails are generally down to. While the CL's are more erect. I am new though and could be wrong...
That is actually pretty significant, I know that pesticides at least some of them stay in your body and increase in amount. While some will leave the body a partial amount becomes concentrated and is absorbed into our tissue and organs. I have taken a couple environmental sociology classes. It...
