Didn't this get changed recently? I thought that I had a link to the new ordinance, but I don't seem to be able to find it.

    Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hi folks, I am in Northwest Arkansas (Rogers) and curious about what y'all suggest for winter protection for a coop. I have 4 pullets fully feathered in a 10'x20' dog kennel/run that serves add my backyard rabbitry also. I am not a carpenter but I have the scrap wood laying around to build...

20'x10' rabbit "barn" with chickens - coop ideas?

Good point about the tarp. I could probably get by with a small hard shelter and heat lamp for the really cold stuff.

Thanks sunflour! I will look more closely at the Purina Mills coops. I have the skeleton of a coop already, just need to expand it a little I think.

20'x10' rabbit "barn" with chickens - coop ideas?

I have made a rabbitry out of two 10'x10' dog kennels. I am interested in coop ideas to put inside the kennel. I am in the barn every day caring for the bunnies, and would be able to give the chickens one 10' wall out to about 4-6' Right now the chickens have a little coop but with the cold...

Is an 8'x6' dog kennel big enough for 6 hens?

I found a good deal on Craigslist for a dog kennel/pen that I would like to use to keep my hens in. Is this going to be enough chicken space?

    4'x8' run for 4 hens?

Will 32 sq. feet be enough for 4 hens?

    Orpington or Cornish?

Buff Orpington or buff Cornish? Lady at Atwood's just said "buff." The gold and black sex links are just getting wing feathers, but this one and her sister have had them for at least a week.

I am on the Backyard Chickens group on Facebook. Yes, I got 6 from Atwoods (2 buff, 2 gold sex-link, 2 black sex-link) last week. I figure if I've got a bootleg chicken flock, I may as well get more than I'm allowed. :)

Sand instead of grass in the run

Thanks Janet. I realized just now that I didn't have a lot of detail about my plan - so I edited the original post.

Sand instead of grass in the run

I have a rather small back yard. I am wanting to basically build a sandbox and use that as the run. Good idea, bad idea? edit: Good grief, I am tired. Let's try to make more sense, shall we? My thinking is that the sand will be easier for me to clean up. I plan to use cob bedding inside...

Hello everyone! We just got some chickens to raise for egg production. We live in Rogers, AR. I grew up with chickens but this is the first time we've had chickens in the city. Can't wait to learn more!
