I was in NW, off Burnt Store but now we're in SE off del prado... talk about getting creative lol
From what i understand though we're ok hanging chickens... there nothing in the ordinance that forbids it
OK, well went back to the feed store today since there wasn't any nutritional info on the feed bag and he said the protein was 16% in the laying mash... I picked up some meal worms and oyster shells to help supplement their protein and calcium.. hope that's enough because there isn't another...
Well as for their mash... it's their favorite (aside from yogurt) and they gobble it up in a hurry. I don't know the protein content... I feel like I asked once and they told be either 20 or 22 %? Does that sound right?? lol Two of the five of them seem to have fully developed wattles and combs...
So this is my first flock... I got them the day after Easter 2014 (April 21). I had it in my head they should begin laying at five months and have been anxiously checking the nesting box for the past two weeks... but we have a whole lot of nothin goin on! After doing some research I now see they...
We use an almost emptied wine bottle! The flies love the sweetness but can't usually get back out and eventually drown. It's also a fun excuse to have a few drinks lol
Yep, they have a coop, a very nice one my husband has been building. We just need to paint it. He's starting on the run after that's done.
It's quite warm here, we're in SW Florida!
All seems well with all of them, even Myrtle! I had to spin feed her some homemade tonic and Greek yogurt and some extra snuggling... but woke up to her eating and drinking on her own again :) I'm really quite amazed at how resilient they are!
Yes,my daughter was quite upset at first but she's...
Myrtle wont eat :( I'm kinda force feeding her water but somethings wrong.... she's very lethargic. She's not even one with visible injuries... everyone else is doing remarkably well though...
Nugget... the one who was in severe shock, has finally perked up. The rest: Lucy, Ethel, Myrtle, and Gertrude all seem okay but I'm worried about infection still. Lucy and Gertrude seem to have the worst of the wounds. Bald and bloody spots on their back and wings... so sad... It's still too...
My little girl accidentally opened the garage and our dog got in there with our six baby chicks... My husband found the massacre! One of the six was DOA. Most of the others have injuries, some bleeding... everyone was soaked from the toppled water dish. We brought the remaining in the house...
Hi there! So you're in the Cape as well?? Tell me, are you familiar with the ordinances for the city in regards to chickens? I can't find the actual info anywhere! I have four chicks now
Thank you :) Woke up this morning thrilled see that were all doing just fine... yes, i was nervous lol... reminded me of how I'd worry about my own kids!
