Well, I'm glad he got there ok.
I hope your truck keeps working. Car troubles are the pits.
I am way up on top of the state (near Morgantown) or he could stop here for lunch or some such!

I used to have a lot of Guineas, and they were useful, in that they ate the ticks. I have not seen a tick in ages.
However, I mostly gave them away, because they were mean to the chickens. They would chase all my timid little hens away from their food, and beat up on my not timid roosters...
I am right near Fairview, which is sort of between Morgantown and Fairmont.
I have too many chickens. I am just not able to take care of them all, and I guess I will have to put an ad in the Bulletin Board. But first I wanted to let you all know.
I have Silver Laced Wyandottes, some...
Yes, my gals are laying like crazy also.
I figure they are bored.
They have nothing to do, as all their scratching grounds are covered with snow, so they say, 'Oh what the heck, let's go lay an egg.'
Catherine
Well, what do you all think? Are we going to get this awful ice storm?
It doesn't look too bad today, but you never know.
Yesterday Fed Ex did not deliver something to me because they couldn't get here. I wish they had called, as I could have had them leave it somewhere.
Catherine
23 dozen.
I'll tell you something cute.
The woman at the health food store who takes a lot of our eggs says that every morning her little girl has an egg, and she gets to pick out her own egg out of the carton. My eggs are all different shades, and I try to put a green or blue one in each...
Well, ok, I could make that I think. Although it would be a bit of a drive.
My problem is, I LOVE hatching out chickens, and now I have more chickens than I can take care of!
Well, I AM taking care of them, with the help of my husband, but you see what I mean. LOTS of chickens!
And I want...

We did not get that much snow, but my husband's college (Fairmont State) closed early. The roads were dreadful.
My car is a 4WD, and my husband has had to take it for ages, so I am getting a little cabin fever.
You can't really get in or out of our place without a 4WD.

I forget where Putnam County is. Can you tell me more about where it would be?
I wish there was something closer to me. I am in Fairview, which is near Fairmont.
Catherine
You know, I have not seen ONE egg EVER from my four hens. I kept wondering if they were eating them!
So maybe they will start laying in the spring. If spring ever comes...

It has been very cold here in WV this winter. I have their tiny little hut right near the house, so it is sheltered. Then, when it is really cold, we keep a tarp over the whole little coop.
Of course I have to change their water daily as it does freeze.
They seem to be fine and happy, so...

Quite accidentally, I crossed my Wheaten Ameracaunas with my Wellsummer Roo, since deceased, and got olive eggs. I don't much like them, but some do. One is rather interesting. It is olive with little brown spots.
Catherine
My Ameracaunas are laying lovely eggs, very clear blue, BUT, they are very small. Does anyone else have this problem?
Maybe when it is a little warmer, I will get some eggs from someone who has pretty but LARGE eggs and hatch them out. Any suggestions?
