If there's any one in the UK looking for Mandarin's I am looking to sell mine. I'm in Lincolnshire and have an adult pair that have been pinioned, a female from last year not pinioned and 5 males and 2 females from this year not pinioned. All apart from the pinioned pair are happy to eat from my...

They're with the mother and have had access since day 1. I think they just lose waterproofing when they are intermediate between down and adult feathers. It should know how to get out though the silly thing!

Anyone had ducklings strangely appear to have drowned just as their adult feathers are coming in? Just found one of my nearly 4 week old ducklings upside down in the paddling pool. The same sort of thing happened with 2 ducklings last year. I don't know if it's because their feathers aren't...

I should point out this is experience from letting the mothers raise them. I don't know about artificially raising them

If you spend a lot of time hand feeding mealworms to the ducklings they can get quite tame, coming up to you when you go into the men to be handfed. They tolerate being touched a bit but you can't really pick them up (only if they decide to stand on you). If you stop feeding them they quickly...

Yeah there's three. Not seen them for a week but semi-tamed their mum with mealworms last year and now they follow me everywhere. Can get in the way quite a lot. Haha

Also, the little baby that was hatching after the rest died after it hatched :( but the other eight with the mum are doing fine. there she is with them. They're different sizes so think they may have hatched at different times

They white gene is reccesive so if you have two whites all the babies will be white, whereas if you have one wild and one white all will be wild but will all have the potential to have white babies. If you breed a white and a duck that has been bred from a white and a wild then you will get...

Female was sitting on 19 eggs. There were 11 but then she got nest dumped. Now have 8 ducklings a week late. No idea what will happen to the other eggs!

She'll come out for a couple of times each day, but mostly be in the box

Count them when she gets off the nest while she's incubating. Just move the feathers apart and then put them back over when you've counted. She'll get back on.

OK I have a question. I have a female on eggs due to hatch this weekend but whenever she leaves the nest she gets chased by a male (who's mate is also on eggs due in 2 weeks). I am not around at the mo but have been told this is happening. Will the ducklings be OK or should the male be...

I had about three laying their eggs all in the same box and had to remove 18 eggs. Then 2 started sitting on 19 eggs that were left. So yes it does happen but I've no idea whether the eggs will hatch. I moved one of the two females out

Just wondering, why do you only want one? I imagine it would get lonely, they don't really interact with other species.
