Silver Penciled Cochin Bantam and possible Frizzle?

UPDATE! Today, Boots' first baby hatched! Boots is obviously a hen, and turned out not to be frizzled. She just has a tardy gene. Her and my Silkie Roo made this beautiful little baby, Bailey! On the bottom is Lula, also a definite hen, doing what she does best!

    Sudden Hard Eye Cyst

Hi All, My hen, Penny has developed a hard, white, pea-sized cyst on her eyeball that isn't moveable and causes her pain when her eyelid is touched. It's developed over about 2-3 weeks. She has slowed down quite a bit lately, moving from #1 in pecking order to almost the bottom in a flock of 12...

Do they? This is my first run with silver penciled Cochins. That would sure make my life a little easier!

    Cochin Thread!!!

@CrazyChickLady7 Generally, I would suspect that any young pullet with such redness in their comb and wattles would actually be a cockerel--as you stated. Any pullet that stands tall and has dominating behavior, I too, would suspect being a cockerel--as you stated. Now here's the confusing...

    Cochin Thread!!!

I have two silver penciled Cochins and I'm at odds over their sex! They are 13 weeks old. Their behavior is questionably male. Their looks are questionably female. Any of you master Cochin keepers have thoughts? I already have 2 Silkie Roos, so any new Roos would need to be rehomed.

Silver Penciled Cochin Bantam and possible Frizzle?

Hi @blackshawdog, I'm still suspicious of Boots being a roo, but unfortunately, I can't be certain quite yet. I'm thrown off because my other (whom I think is a pullet) has such a red comb and wattles. I also suspected the hatchery sent me a partridge by mistake, but he is indeed a Silver...

This infuriates me! I'm so sorry you have to deal with such an awful neighbor! https://www.municode.com/library/ca/arroyo_grande/code_of_ordinances/TIT16DECO_CH16.32REDI_16.32.040USREREDI?searchText=Chicken I'm not seeing anything in the city ordinance that states chickens aren't allowed. There...

    What is my Silkie!?

The first one can go either way. As an owner of two silkie roos, I'm looking for two things. 1) Comb size. 2) Streamers on their heads. I feel confident in saying that your white Silkie is a cockerel. Your buff I'm not so sure yet. Maybe in another week or so you'll have a better clue. Good...

Bantam Cochin Gender? - updated photos at 4 weeks old on post #10

Ok, I'm need of some votes for my Silver Penciled Cochin Bantams. Pullets or cockerels? They are 6 weeks old. Ready, go! Both pictures above are of Cholula (aka Lula)--I suspect pullet. Both images above are of Boots--I suspect Cockerel, unwillingly.

Top left picture is a roo, without a doubt. Notice the high arching on the tail feathers and the larger comb.

These tail feathers just look off. I'm still not so sure Skippy is a she. I'll try to get better pictures and post. :/

Review by '' on item 'Orpington'

I love my buffs, Tiny and Peep, naturally named by their description. Sweet birds, very calm when held, very submissive to the roos, but very aggressive with new chicks. From what I've observed, it appears the buffs feel they are lowest in the pecking order, although this isn't really the case...

    8 Week Olds--Need Sexing Help!

I have three 8 week old chicks, 2 (Blue Gene EE and White EE) which were hatched by a broody hen, and 1 (barred rock) which was bought at 1 week old. See below. The first one is Pokey. He was clearly a roo by about 5 weeks old when we noticed the red feathering coming in on his shoulders. I'm...
