I have a RIR that has been acting odd in the past couple days. Her eyes are clear and shes attentive but she has been quite lethargic. She fluffs her feathers up a bit away from her body. Her comb has gotten paler and is starting to droop. I also noticed she has green poop residue on her rear...
My hen got attacked by a dog this morning and I discovered a fairly large wound on her back/side. She obviously is weak but she still energetic and clear eyed. her poop is completely runny, basically like water. I've brought her inside but considering the size of the wound idk if it is even...
Okay, the only reason I'm worried is because it is in the box and so they bury under their poop and such so I don't think they even know they are there
There is a animal swap in Roanoke Va tomorrow. I am planning on going but I just wanted to see of anyone else on here is going. I am looking for some chickens that are around 5 months old.
Please let me know if you are going :)
I live in the city and because of that can only have four chickens on the property. I am considering my other options, and I know several people that have land. So I am thinking (just thinking) if it would work to have chickens on a separate property.
If I did do that I probably would only be...
I just noticed the other day that the tips of my roosters comb are blueish/purple. It's been around 10degrees F sometimes after dark. I don't really know what I should do, if I should even do anything. Would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Yeah I can a picture. Of the hen right? Well the only thing I was wondering, do I need to put some fake eggs in the box? Cause she has never been with a hen that is currently laying, so I didn't know if she would know what to do.
I think she is about 7 months 3 weeks. She is very skittish. She never goes into the nesting box and I haven't seen her do the squatting thing yet. I really don't understand why its taking so long. My last couple of hens started at 5 1/2 - 6 months. Any advise or thoughts?
Sorry the title was so long. I just got some hatching eggs a week ago and I don't know that exact day them were born. I was wondering if they would hatch based on how long the hen has been sitting on them or based on what day they were layed? I would really like to know!

I live near the city of Lynchburg! Is there anyone else near me?
These are my two buff orpinton chicks
These are my other hens. My Black Austrolorp is siting on 10 eggs right now. I'm so excited!!
Yeah unfortunately you won't be able to tell by the egg whether they are male or female. But you can look up how to feather sex the chick once they are 1-3 days old and then you should be able to tell pretty well how many hens or roos you have
That is great to hear!! I just wanted to check because the eggs are supposed to hatch on the 16th through the 20th and I will be leaving for camp on the evening of the 17th. (I didn't plan that too well) My hens have been aggressive to chicks before but they weren't raised by a hen, so I just...
