*Update*
After getting her over to the neighbors and being able to get a closer look, it was decided to euthanize her. She had three splits, one where the compaction had ruptured through and a few maggots. She was very warm, labored breathing, and did not smell good.
Thanks for all the info.
I had a cermani go missing about a month ago and figured raccoons had got her. Was a bit upset, but that’s what happens sometimes. I had come home from work to the gate of the coop opened. I know it was the kid down the hill from me, he’s been known to take my eggs occasionally. Don’t really...
She still has a good appetite and comes when the food is given. Otherwise, she tries to stay hidden. The only chickens not immunized are the ones they hatch themselves, the cemani is immunized.
When I had her last night, the leg would stay in a straight or folded up position when I would...
Can tell fall is almost here. Hawks and coons.....
Within the last two days, my ayam cemani got injured. Not sure if from trying to get away from a hawk, raccoon, jumping down from perch, from porch, etc.
Attached two videos.... need recommendations please.
When I do pick her up, she SCREAMS...
has anyone used this? I’ve been using the deep layer method, but it’s getting to a point where disposal and such is a hassle.
I saw this and noticed reviewers talking about using it for pens, ferrets, etc.
*UPDATE*
Out of the eight, six have survived. One died by drowning, seriously.
I think it got tired swimming in the kiddie pool and did not realize it could get out on the bricks placed. It was pretty much full grown.
Anywho, I’ve kept two and gave four to our dog breeder. They’ve got...
I am having issues with ant infestations right now. We’ve not had much rain so their everywhere. I had to completely disassemble my barn cat crate cause ants took up residence a dnthe chickens ate the eggs. My two ducks ate the ants.
My issue I have is I have a few broody hens on eggs, they’ve...
The feed is not medicated, I made sure of that when I bought it. I’ve been thinking it was neurological unfortunately, since none of the others are showing any signs.
It is chick starter crumble and am adding brewers yeast. I got some niacin the other day as well and started feeding it to the duckling, along with save-a-chick probiotics and electrolytes.
It seems to be getting worse though, it’s not got its head back and up, with the neck swaying back and...
This isn’t the normal behavior I’ve seen them doing, where they dive, etc. the first time I saw this the other night, it was in distress. And it’s neck will just “flop” around in a spasm. When the neck does it, it causes the duckling to fall over and it’s unable to right itself for a few minutes.
Not sure. Here’s a few videos I took. In first, wings keep flitting. And you can see posture of neck.
In the other two, you’ll see what happens when it dunks it’s head and tries to put head up to swallow.
