Thanks. I was thinking sebright also. Poor squirt is so small. He's the smallest chicken I've ever seen and his crow sounds like a squeaky toy. But he makes up for it in attitude. He's one of my favorites :P
Thanks, I thought so. Its weird, the saddle feathets appear pointy but when I look closely they have a pointy center and rounded fine feathers around the pointy part. Its hard to explain.
Thank you, they are beautiful. I was a little upset they weren't BA's but I love the coloring. Especially the one with white/tan feathers. He's going to be georgeous!
Both have black legs and white nails. The person I got them from had black sex link, ee's,white leghorns, and australorps. They all looked the same as ckicks then 2 started to lighten up and their heads were more brown than black.
This one has really pretty white/tan feathers.
This one has brown feathers.
Here they are together.
And of course I think they are both boys, just my luck!!!!
I'm new to chickens so I don't have much experience, but I was using purina chick starter and noticed loose poop. I switched to poulin chick starter crumbles and noticed a big improvement. I will be feeding them layer pellets soon. Hope this helps & good luck.
We did the same thing. We blocked off about 4 1/2 x 8 ft inside for coop and have plenty of room for brooders and feed (and room to expand). It is working out great! It also had windows already thereso we use one as the door.
This first picture is the "juvenile" brooder so they can all see...
What do you have available to you? You can use almost anything. I've seen wood boxes, plastic tubs, buckets, the list is endless. Try searching for pics of nesting boxes. There are ALOT of great ideas out there. Good Luck, you can do it!!!! :weee
Thank you, everyone on here is great! I know some of these questions are repeats aand silly, but no one has made me feel ignorant for asking. Thank you for that. :hugs
Thank you for the quick response. I'm a little chicken crazy (or not so crazy after finding this site). I just don't want to lose any because of something I did!!!
This is probably a silly question but I'm new to chickens. My flock ranges in age from 8-16 weeks. Yesterday one hen was clucking like crazy. I think she's getting ready to lay:)
Anyway, I put some oyster shells in the run and 3 hens started to eat it right away. Then of course the roos had to...
Thanks, it seems like no one can figure this out. One even saw a vet and they didn't know either. I'll keep an eye on it, hope its nothing, I wanted to breed him.
