I'm starting this thread as I begin my journey into breeding large-fowl Harlequin Orpingtons. I am one of only 2 breeders in the world (at the time of this post) to own large-fowl Harlequin Orpingtons. There are others who claim to have them but it can be said with 100% certainty, without a...
From what I understand from Greg yours are missing the final piece of the puzzle to make them harlequin. They won't look like harlequin and won't breed true. He told me the story behind yours. I hope you can get them finished so we can have 3 lines in the US.
Blue mottled is just blue and white. True Harlequins are blue black and white. Mine have all 3 colors but it's hard to get a picture in my crappy light inside. It was too stormy to take them out.
Here are TRUE Harlequin Orpingtons. Myself and one other breeder are the only people in the world to own TRUE large-fowl Harlequin Orpingtons. There is one other breeder who has bantam-sized true Harlequins. Our Harlequins will breed true, always. Others who claim to have Harlequins are...
I don't need to see a paper trail because it's none of my business nor did I ask for one. I truly am not concerned with how she got then. I assume it's legal. I simply stated it's easy to read their 'cryptic-ness' when they've made a post stating 'that's all I'll say..... ;)' that raises...
Yes hers have unique type to them. She posted how she got them. Honestly it sounds a bit fishy and the legality of it could be questioned by many but I'm certainly not one that cares enough to investigate lol. The fact that you don't want to speak of it kinda supports my theories.
Except many people on here are also on the AC FB page and have seen the bottom picture posted by the owner. She has several pictures of her stock posted on that site. :)
Thank you all! I'm trying to avoid AF lines as the rest of mine are AF so I want to decrease the possibility of throwing birds with red feathers. I've already seen a couple with red feathers that I've grown out and that's a couple more then I'm comfortable with lol.
Regarding eBay feedback, there's a loophole where sellers can delete negative feedback so it appears they have 100% positive feedback (one particular eBay user selling AC eggs does this). Feedback isn't always reliable.
You're right about other sites for selling, the same people who are...
I incubate Bantams and large fowl together. I keep the temp at 99.5 and humidity at 45% for the first 18 days then 65% days 18-21. I always have 95-100% hatch rates even with shipped eggs. I've tried the dry - incubating method but the forced-air fan dried the air inside the 'bator too much and...
I thought I had answered this for you before but can't find it. There is no size difference between colors. The size difference comes in English vs. American Orpingtons. English are larger and fuller than American.
Yes. I sell most of my eggs and chicks on auctions online and locally. Any time I ever post an auction or sale on FB I always get customers that post a comment stating how they had great hatch rates or healthy chicks, etc. Sites like Rare Breed Auctions, where I also sell, also allow buyers to...
