I have 20 chickens, and we have to rent.

I own 20 chickens. They are my pets and I love them dearly. Our house is in the process of being sold, and then we have to move into a rental home. What do I do about my chickens? My mother is drilling me to the point of me breaking out in tears about us giving them away (To unresponsible people...

Two broody hens, one baby chick

Thanks guys! I'm not exactly sure of the square footage, but my coop holds 20 chickens comfortably. I have 6 in there. I do however have my run cut in half as I'm integrating 12, 6 week old chicks. My ladies are quite friendly (That's why the broody attacking it was quite startling to me). The...

Two broody hens, one baby chick

I had two broody hens each sitting on a small clutch of eggs. They kept getting up and pushing each other off their nests and stealing each others eggs. As a result, they all cracked and the embryos died. I tried again and all but 3 eggs didn't crack. One broody had two egg, the other had one...

    Buff Orpington Boy or Girl?

That isn't a buff Orpington at all! Buff orpingtons no matter the gender should be solid yellow/orange with yellow feet. What breed he actually is- I don't know. Maybe someone else can shed some light. As for gender, to me personally it looks like an early bloomer pullet. I'm not seeing saddle...

    Cochin or croad langshan?

I'm thinking Croad Legshan only because I believe they have slate colored feet, while Cochins have yellow. I'm not 100% sure though.

3 week old barnyard mixes. Male or female?

I have a dozen barnyard mixes that I would love some help from you experts on sexing! They are about 3 weeks old. I attempted to get clear shots of them all, so I apologize if some of them are blurry. These babies will not sit still! Chick 1- (Buff Orpington X Red Sex Link) Chick 2- (Buff...

So this is my Red Sex Link X Buff Orpington, now called Diego as I believe he's a he! He's only 2 weeks old!!! I feather sexed him as female, but we all know that's only about 50% correct Anywho, I thought it was odd that I was seeing such a large pink comb and little pink waddles on a 2 week...

Hens keep adding eggs to broody?!

I have a broody sitting on six eggs, that have been there for about 5 days. I marked all the original eggs I set under her. I really didn't plan to hatch more chicks as I literally JUST hatched 21 chicks, which is almost my maximum for my set up. However, my white Cochin hen went extremely...

Male or Female? According to egg size

Not at all! Only on day 5 of incubation is when the reproductive organs form. I beleive its 50% determined by inbubation temp, and 50% chance! However, there is no ACTUAL science to it at this point in time.
