    Chicken Drama- please help!

Could they have been hiding eggs? The longest I have ever waited was three days to get eggs... but I had been consistently getting eggs every day or two when I found those. The two that refuse to break won’t even walk out when pulled off. They just scream and sit where I set them. Then walk...

    Chicken Drama- please help!

I have two that refuse to break. I may have to separate them into my brooder coop.

    Chicken Drama- please help!

Ok folks! I guess by putting the word “drama” in the title was asking for it. Lol! I appreciate all of the passion and time that you guys have spent, and I can see both sides. If I can go a more natural route with anything I typically do, but I do agree that medicine does have its place when...

    Chicken Drama- please help!

I had read about them dusting in it which could help (along with dirt and sand) and that it would help with any work eggs that may be in the run or coop. I bought feather fixer from Nature Wise. Their normal food is a brand called Prince mini layer pellets.

    Chicken Drama- please help!

Yeah- I think that what I initially thought was a molt, was actually something else. Or maybe that some were molting (and have since replaced feathers) but the ones with something else have stayed that way.

    Chicken Drama- please help!

Thanks everyone! I will look into all of this. The coop drainage has been fixed with sand and more elevated areas, and more stable cover on the run. I am located in Indiana. I haven’t seen any signs of sneezing or runny noses but I will check everyone tonight. Getting the rooster away will be...

    Chicken Drama- please help!

I have 19 hens and 1 roo. For the last year or so, due to repeated attacks and flock loss, I increased my run size and limit free range time. (They still get about an hour a day or so of free ranging.) So I noticed this spring (End of April/May) that some of the girls were molting. They are...

PLASTIC in my Country Road layer pellets!

I found out that it is pretty much impossible to get ahold of anyone that actually manufacturers this food. Everything led me back to Rural King so I brought it back. They accepted it with no problem and said it wasn't uncommon. Eek!

PLASTIC in my Country Road layer pellets!

I will have to upload pics from my phone in a minute, but when I was transferring my pellets into my plastic storage container I saw a few flecks of color. I stopped pouring and saw, to my horror, plastic in the food! Some bits are even separate and really sharp! I am contacting the company...

    ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

They are SUPER friendly. I love that! My girl, "Ginger" will stand right next to me when I clean the coop. "Red" is very curious and when I leave my back door open, I will always find her peeking in. Red was scared of everything when I first got her. Now, she will creep up on our labrador and...

    ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

I LOVE this breed. They are so sweet, people friendly and lay eggs like crazy. The eggs I get are big! I have 2 hens named, "Ginger" and "Red." I have 2 un-named chicks coming up in the ranks :)

    Chick with a leg problem….help!

Sad news….Bowie was not improving at all, splints and cushions and everything else just made things worse for her. She was getting trampled constantly by the other chicks and even started hanging one wing down to her side. After doing some reading I realized that the bigger and heavier she got...

My experience with Bumblefoot and Tricide-Neo

I should have finished this tale a while ago….The dip seemed to have no effect on her feet. Winter came and seemed to clear things up for now. We are in the process of building a new coop, so hopefully we can keep t at bay with rounded perches and keeping close watch!

    Chick with a leg problem….help!

My chick, Bowie, is probably about 6 weeks old at this point. I thought she was Fine for the first few weeks but now that all of the chicks are getting older and taller….Bowie still isn't standing tall. I pulled her out of the pen to examine her because I saw she wasn't walking very well. Both...

My experience with Bumblefoot and Tricide-Neo

So, we have done 4 days of the dip and there has been no noticeable difference at all. We skipped yesterday, but will try again this evening. I am hoping we won;t still have to cut it out, but that may be the case.

My experience with Bumblefoot and Tricide-Neo

I am using the tricide-neo powder (ordered online from a koi fish supplier) and distilled water for the solution. Another post broke down the measurements if you don't need a gallon, so I am using that measurement of 1.5 TBS of powder to 2 quarts distilled water.
