My hen hatched 3 eggs a few days ago and another hen killed one chick and was after another. The chick is ok, except her foot looks to be almost amputated. I tried to splint it but when I put the chick back it with its mother, the mother pulled off the splint.

I ordered 25 Freedom Rangers that are due June 10th. This gives me time to build a coop for them. I looked at various tractor coops and thought a 10 x 10 x 2 coop would work for 25 birds.
My question is how do you keep the birds healthy without having them vaccinated?

Thank you for the insight.
As of now, day 22, 1 chick hatched, and 4 more have piped.
It seems like a very very slow process. I guess this is normal?
What do you wash your eggs with prior to incubating them?

Today is day 22, second hatch, and still no piping. I maintained a constant 99.5 degrees that entire time, with...

The uneven ground was very small, so small that my hand didn't fit under it, and there were no dig marks. I assumed it was a weasel or mink.
I lost my entire flock this week to a weasel. It managed to get under the fence, at a low, uneven ground area. It left a mess and before I build a new flock, I need to come up with a way to prevent this from happening again.
The coop is tractor style with an adjacent run. It is fenced-in but...
I brought home 2 olive eggers last week, apprx 9 weeks old. I added them to my flock of 6, which are about 13 weeks old. For the most part, all is well. The question I have is that one of the new chickens has a cough and I am concern about something spreading to the healthy chickens.
This is...
Does anyone know if this is a blue cooper maran or a Blue Orp?
She does have feathered legs but I am still not sure.
I have 2 of these, and they have different eye and beak color.
Any advise?
