Hi, we recently hatched 2 chicks on March 26th so they're almost 2 months old. We are kind of unsure of the breeds but are sure that they at least have Cochin in them as that was the rooster being used at the time. Can anyone tell me whether they're roosters or hens? The pictures attached are of...
It's a group for kids ages 7-21 where you join projects such as Poultry (which I do), Beef(cattle, which I also do), Dairy, Goat, Horse, Rabbit, Cooking, etc. there's like 100 different projects. Anyway, you would work with your animals or your project for a year. For the animal projects you'd...
This year my 4-H group decided to do something different and asked us to put our chickens into costumes for a costume class.
Nobody had ever dressed up a chicken or even knew how to that I knew of so it was quite a challenge to figure something out but we eventually came up with something. Has...
Hi, we've been told that we need to dress our chickens up for our upcoming 4H achievement day. I have no clue how to dress up a bantam chicken so does anybody have any suggestions for homeade costumes or ideas? ( I didn't know what category this would go under sorry)
I have a sebright hen that's about a year old now. She used to lay about every other day but she suddenly stopped and it's been a few weeks now. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Thanks
One of my hens is loosing a lot of feathers at the back of her head. There is never any blood but she keeps loosing more everyday. I am suspecting that my rooster may be pulling them out but I haven't actually seen him doing it. Does anybody know any other things that could be causing this...
Thanks guys, I wasn't planning on showing him anyways. I was wondering a lot about his feathers since they're quite long in places. What about this hen? Does she look purebred?
Can anyone tell me if my sebright rooster looks like a purebred? I'm not an expert on sebrights so I'm not sure exactly what they're supposed to look like.
Thanks, We haven't figured out if our silkies are cockerels or pulleys yet. We have already had to separate them from 2 other chickens because they were being picked on. I'll probably just build them a new coop. I feel bad for them.
Hi everyone. I'm new here and I have a question about my chickens. I have a 1 year old rooster and he keeps chasing my 4 month old silkies around and sticking his head underneath them. Can anyone tell me what's going on? Is he trying to breed, or hurt them?
