I would ask your landlord if it has been done. If not, ask him if he can do it. It is around $20-25 for a Coliform/E.coli test. Maybe ask if you can do it and take it off the rent or something. Call your country health dept. to find a lab near you.
I don't suppliment mine with grit. They free range and I have a big gravel driveway they poke around in all the time. I say if you have gravel around where they free range, they shouldn't need it.
Yeah! Baby! Congrats!
I work in a water testing lab actually. The well owner is responsible for making sure the water is safe to drink. You want to test for Coliform Bacteria. EPA suggests to do this yearly. You should also test for Nitrates. If you have an Iron problem, you can call a water company (culligan) and...
Oh geeze- If it's not one thing it's another huh. Well, I really can't catch them, I mean, if I sneak up one, the rest will freak out and I'll have birds boking and feathers flying! That's unfortunate. I heard they had leg mites when the scales looked pushed up underneath... it's not like that...
Do you think they have mites? They've been like this sense I got them and I thought it was normal until I read the other post. If it is mites, I can't catch them so can I do something else to treat it? I heard somewhere to paint diesel fuel on the roost?

Hi guys, I got a new camera. Thought I would show you all pictures. My hens are very camera shy though!
This is the Coop Shed. Half chicken coop half tool shed and feed/bedding storage. It works nice.
Inside the coop, I just added two more laying boxes and rearranged though.
Dust bathing...

Rose combs? I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that. These are my first chickies:P So not Partrige Rock? That's what the gal I got them from told me. hum. Well I love them no matter what they are! It would just be nice to know exactly. Sex link huh? Okay...
I heard the golf balls worked best to discourage them from pecking at them because when they go to peck their beak kinda bounces off the ball and they don't like it!
