This is a old post, but I'm going to try this with a broody hen. Did ur hen accept the peacock or did u remove to brooder? Also, can u keep and make a peacock friendly and do they stay around? Will 2 males get along? I might just try my hand at it and see how it goes.
Our broiler eggs are probably fertile so we stuck a few under a broody hen we have. Have you ever hatched any? I've read not for meat, but they are laying a pretty good amount of eggs..
Hub says some blood around face and neck. Looks like she was probably pecked... I did read roosters will go after a dominant acting hen...12 other hens are ok.. Keeping them separated..
I'm pretty sure this just happened to us... 2 silkie roo's which are the youngest of 13 additional hens... My best egg layer was dead this morning... I've seen one of the roosters go after one of my hens, but thought it was a mating thing... I don't want another one dead. They will be outdoor...

Supposed to have a white cochin... Why no leg feathers at 5 weeks old? This is not exact chick, but looks almost identical to this picture. I have a white Sulton with leg feathers already..confused newbie..

I think you may have just answered a question I have...Does just the male make the very very loud calls...Think we may have a Peahen that just showed up a few weeks ago. She has not been very loud...sounds more like our chickens so guessing it's a hen or a juvenile...Guess time will tell if a...
I remember that yesterday afternoon, I went to the barn and saw it and googled a Peahen call and played it loud...last night my hub said it was vocal and pretty loud for the first time....interesting....I hope it doesn't have an illness...doesn't appear sick, but we have noticed some flys on...
For the last week or so that we know of, we have a white Peahen on our property. It has slowly been coming closer to the barn and house. We don't mind it being here, but guessing it ran away from another farm in the area? Assuming a hen from pictures and it's tail is not a male like train. It...
