I had not clicked on the link. Thanks for the info. I'm sad now but I'll get over it. I'll take him back to auction in a few weeks and sell him most likely. Now I'll have to examine the other 2 more closely. I did learn a lot going to my first auction but I really appreciate the extra info here.
I thought it looked like a barred rock too but then looked up the cuckoo maran and these show up...even one has yellow feet. I have another that looks definitely like a hen as she has absolutely no visible comb. She's darker in color but they all have a barred type feather like in the google...
Got my first egg today! I'm fairly certain it was from a silkie. My barred rock and my black chicken want to peck at it. I wanted to leave it and see if anyhen was ready to sit on the nest but I don't want the egg to be eaten.
I'm currently in eastern NC. We're 7 miles from town and there's not much to that town! So much fun watching them daily! My kids really enjoy them too.
