Well updating again.
So of my "sexed" pullet chicks at least 3 look to be cockerells. Fun fun lol. Favorelles I've heard can be docile. I may decide to keep a rooster run. Basically would be 3-5 roosters that could be swapped out with hens for various breeding. We shall see.
Still awaiting my...
It's always a crap shoot with shipped eggs. I generally try to stay within state or a neighboring state when possible. Gold feather is in south Louisiana if I remember correctly. I'm in mid Missouri. It was around 600 miles. It was also pretty cold too. I want to say 24 eggs total hatched 3...
They package well. If I remember right, I hatched about 10% of their shipped but it was shipped like 500-600 miles so I didn't expect great. The bresse looked like good standard, the roosters are jerks though.
Woo! Didn't realize it had been sooo long since I last updated.
Well, here goes.
I have some kind of predator that has wiped put my chickens the last 2 years. I now have good secure areas hopefully and have a pair of white bresse, new chicks of various others and soon will have excellent...
My guy ( who I would remind all is anti chickens) went pick up my order of faverolles at Cackle (it's less than a mile away from us) I asked him to ask if they had any extra chanteclers because they been unavailable for order since late Feb. He came back with my favs, 2 chanteclers and they...
My guy is like if this one makes it, it likely will be the tamest most handled one I've ever had. He even mentioned it being a house chicken lol
You know all the work I'm putting in it's like 99% likely a rooster.
So, I finally was able to free their wing from their face. Still alot of stiff gunk on their face and varying other places. They are still strong, will push up and hop wiggle where they want but not more than a step or two. The wing I was able to loosen they don't move it much. Hopefully they...
Do you mean like trying to towel the area when dry? The chick is only taken out for about 5 minutes for the washing every 2-4 hours then put back in the incubator to dry and keep warm.
Help needed.
So my single pipper ( also have a quail fully hatched and fine so far) he was making zero progress for well over 24 hours. I noticed he seemed to be unusually placed in the egg by his mouth placement. The humidity went super low overnight and this morning I brought it back up but...
I actually have far fewer eggs since I candled these and tossed 1/3 at day 8 then half of what was left at day 14. There is less than a full carton of eggs in there currently, but pretty sure it was just the heavy wet material dragging the temp down. I pulled it and added a couple sponges...
I've no clue what's up with the incubator. It's not keeping it's temp now. Urg!!!
The bulb must not be strong enough. Didn't have this issue with hatching quail less than 2 months ago. It'hanging in the 97s and low 98s now instead of 99-100.
