It is off center, which is weird, and no, it’s not fully sealed around the edges. I mean, there’s no opening into the body cavity from the outside, but it looks like a mouth blowing a bubble out of bubble gum. You can see that the “mouth” is open and the bubble protrudes.
I was wondering if I could tie it off with dental floss or if there are intestines inside it.
Sorry, it’s bum is wet in the photos because it did a dribbly poop all down itself and I washed it all off with wet Q tips.

How is this little chick doing? Just wanted to follow up.

I double checked the other one and it is alive as well. I am scarred for life...never opening another egg that isn’t more than 4 days overdue.
I oiled both membranes with a qtip and have them in the incubator with humidity up to 75%

is that high enough @BullChick or should it be higher?

How are things going with the two chicks? Did you happen to have any antibiotic ointment without pain reliever on hand?

So, I finally was able to free their wing from their face. Still alot of stiff gunk on their face and varying other places. They are still strong, will push up and hop wiggle where they want but not more than a step or two. The wing I was able to loosen they don't move it much. Hopefully they will keep improving. They at least can see fully now.
I put it in the brooder with the quail chick. More chicks will be here Tuesday so hopefully it's running around by then or it will get picked on.

I was supposed to have 10 silkies go in but lost- 5 to cracked eggs prior to incubation- I think they froze and seller didn't notice 2 were infertile but got my 3 to hatch well and seller is going to replace my cracked eggs, yay.

My 10 other eggs ended up all hatching Only keeping 3 from that batch but still so excited I got a 100% hatch rate...this has never happened before!

Congrats on all those precious babies - - and fingers crossed for all the eggs still in the incubator and for all the little ones' struggling with problems

From my 13 bantam silkie eggs 12 hatched fine.
The last egg is still in the incubator, but I don't have much hope Candling showed a large irregularly edged aircell, then kind of an orange ring, then a red ring, then black (irregular shaped). I didn't see veining or movement.

From the 15 bantam Brahma x Deutsches Buschhuhn mixes until now 11 hatched fine and I saw one external pip on the remaining 4 when I last checked. Two of the other 3 are the completely dark egg we never could detect anything at candling (even not an aircell), and the egg we marked with a question mark because it looked different from all the others when candled at lockdown.

I'm rooting for the little one! I'm glad you were able to make it more comfortable. I was sore just thinking about it.

My guy is like if this one makes it, it likely will be the tamest most handled one I've ever had. He even mentioned it being a house chicken lol
You know all the work I'm putting in it's like 99% likely a rooster.
