Peachtree City, GA: Let's change the ordinance!

Hi Scrappymj, As far as I know the law has not changed. Peachtree City residents are still not allowed to own chickens, I do know there are more chicken owners here compared to a couple of years ago. A friend of mine came across 5 hens hens along a cart path near the library. Which I find funny.

Soft Shell Egg Bound or Something Else

About a month ago I noticed one of my RIR was walking like a penguin. I just thought she was fat, she was eating well & social with the other girls. This week I noticed that she looked raw between her vent & legs & thought she might be loosing feathers. I went on google & read that sometimes...

    Chicken walking like a penguin

I wonder if I should squeeze below her vent also. My chicken is resting now, but if there is no change by morning, I'll repeat her bath & try to release her fluid. Thanks so much for responding & I am so happy your girl is better. My girl will be one year old in July so she isn't a chick.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a question for my y'all. I was doing research on which feed is best, pellet food or the grain feed. The most common answer I could find was the pellet feed because the chicken wasted less of it. I have both grain & pellet feed. I started them on the grain & I am adding a little pellet...

How do I figure out the pecking order?

Finally got my divider up today, thank goodness. We had some left over lattice from the deck work. I let the new girls out of the doggie crates & just sat out there to watch their behavior. Within the new girls I find that 95% of the aggression is from the americaunas & 5% from the buffs. I put...

Thank you so much for the advice. I will put a divider in my run today. I did put the new in a dog crate over night but kept them on the back porch due to rain.

How do I figure out the pecking order?

I have a question about the Pecking Order myself.. This is the first time I've ever had chickens..About 2 weeks ago my husband bought me 6 Rhode Island Reds female chicks beiween 6 & 8 weeks old. They have been great together. We built a 16x16 run for them. I fell in love with so fast. There has...

I just wanted to say how excited I was to find BYC. This is my first time owning baby chicks & I want to take the best care I possibly can for my new babies.
