Here are some pictures of 2011 and 2012 toulouse. These birds were hatched in May through late June and the pictures were taken 11/5/2012
Sebastopols, this is the male. These pictures were taken in mid-October.
Females mid-October
I have available black silkie hens (all good quality, some are way out of condition have been in breeding pens), and a white trio (cockerel is from very good/expensive stock and hens are decent), for right price might sell two splash silkie hens from Amy Jo Piehl who no longer raises...
Oh, and one additional thing,.... for those who haven't heard this is going to be a much bigger show than Chehalis has been in the past couple of years. There are over 900 birds entered at this show! If you are waffling on coming, you should definitely make it!
Lavender and silver are not in the standard and therefore not currently a good candidate for showing. How old are the children? Muscovies are a wonderful bird but they do have some serious claws and are powerful, therefore can be difficult for smaller children to handle. A drake packs some...
Rob- Thanks! You rock!! I am not against potluck/food all I want is to make sure someone checks with the show to ensure that no problems are raised for the show. These shows are planned, executed, run, setup almost exclusively by volunteers (sometimes some outside help is hired for...
Also, I have available to bring to the show young silver muscovy drakes. No idea how they will turn out, but out of good birds. I am not keeping any silvers. $35 each, must have deposit to bring as I will either have to bring the truck (extra gas $$$) or possibly scratch a show entry in order...
PLEASE clear any food served with the show secretary first! Last year at one of the shows, I can't remember which, the food vendor on the grounds complained and it caused big problems. The show can't afford to lose a venue :(.
I second what cloverleaf said. Renting the space to hold this show was expensive, and sale cages are a way of helping to cover costs and support the show, without which we wouldn't be able to bring birds to sell. I rented a sale area... because I knew a couple sale cages may not cover it.
We...
Looks like a young toulouse to me. Looks like potentially an injured or strained wing. I had my buff toulouse gander do that a couple years ago and he's fine now, did take about six months to recover. That said, I have seen genetic issues cause saggy wings as well (in a sebastopol). I knew...
Hey guys, I am coming to the show! I will have some sale birds with me, and some that I will bring only if reserved ahead of time (because it means I have to bring a different vehicle)
2010 embden pair from Holderreads. Female has single lobe but bred them in 2011 and 2012 and didn't even get...
Anyone interested in SQ embdens from Holderread? Also selling some female sebastopols in white, 2010, 2011, 2012 hatch. I posted links to public albums on the thread for the PNPA show in Salem, OR.

I do not think stress is the cause. I have hauled my toulouse to shows, switched mates around, etc. What Holderread was talking about was what is referred to in poultry/waterfowl books as 'Hardware Disease'. When I was raising buff americans before I started showing I did find a case of...
Good! Ryan's a good kid (although he'll probably want to punch me for saying so) and the people on the West Coast are very impressed with his muscovies. He's got some dandies. Thanks for passing the info along. You doing much raising of the africans? Hatch any geese this year?
Geese definitely need turn out on grass! If you read the goose books from the early 1900s as well as the modern literature on geese pasture is mentioned as the superior feed source. Not only that, but grazing keeps them entertained and busy. Bored geese can be destructive.
Wheat is another...
Unlike sebastopols and other breeds you listed, dewlaps cannot maintain weight and grow properly on forage alone, they require concentrated feed (a good poultry food). Also, wazine only covers roundworms. Holderread uses ivermectin to worm, and I have used both ivermectin and valbazen with...
