Any chance this is a pullet?

No, I was told this one was female. It came from Hoover's Hatchery and from what I have read on this site, their formula for sexing Sapphire Gems seems to be flawed.

Any chance this is a pullet?

As I expected. As a sex link breed I thought this might be the one chick I could count on to be a pullet. Better warn the neighbors.

Any chance this is a pullet?

This is Abigail, our 12 week old Sapphire Gem. Is there any chance that this is not a rooster? Any chance this breed just grows really fast? 7B05C62C-970E-4049-B744-124B60CD7E00 by Knittinchickn posted Jul 17, 2019 at 5:09 PM[/D7B2816D-9619-414C-8963-1D6525172A67 by Knittinchickn posted Jul 17...

Introducing new chickens with a broody hen

That's what I thought. I will work on that tomorrow. Thank you!

Introducing new chickens with a broody hen

We have three 1-year old hens and seven "new" chickens (5 pullets and 2 probable cockerels) that are about 10 weeks old. We've had the new chickens since they were a day or two old and we are just now ready to put them out with the other three. They have been spending time in a coop within the...

Introducing new chickens with a broody hen

Just as I am getting ready to introduce our 10 week old pullets to the rest of the flock, one of my year old hens has gone broody. Can I safely continue with the introduction or do I need to break her broodiness first?

    5 wk old EE crowing?

Thank you, that's what I thought. Such a shame; he's our favorite and we can't keep roosters in our town.

    5 wk old EE crowing?

So sorry about the double post. I didn't think the original one went through because I got an error message and now I have no idea how to delete this.

    5 wk old EE crowing?

This is our 5 wk old EE, Honey, who was purchased at a feed store as a pullet. I have begun to suspect that she is a he based on coloring and her (his?) comb. This morning, Honey made a sound that could have been an early attempt at crowing. Is it too early for an EE to crow at 5 weeks? Since...

    5 wk old EE crowing?

This is our 5 wk old EE, Honey. We bought her as a day old (few days old?) pullet from a feed store that said they will take back pullets that turn out to be roos. I'm pretty sure that she is a he after listening to her make crowing sounds this morning and looking up EE sexing on this site...

    Brinsea EcoGlow 20

I'm having a problem with my brand new Ecoglow. We have six chicks in the brooder with the Brinsea EcoGlow20. The cord has two pieces, one which attaches to the unit and the other which is the adapter that plugs into the wall. The place where they connect is kind of loose and twice I have gone...

Barred Holland rooster in CT needs a new home

I'm so sorry, I forgot to remove this post. He's already been re-homed. Thank you for your interest though.

    Not coming home

Thank you, we'll try that. Since their food and water are in the coop we should be able to shut them in when they come back during the day.

    Not coming home

We have had three hens for about a month. Originally we also had a fourth, but it turned out to be a rooster and we had to re-home him. Almost immediately after the rooster left, we went away for a week and had a neighbor let the hens out and close them back in at night. They free range in our...

Barred Holland rooster in CT needs a new home

It has just become apparent that one of our chickens is a rooster. He is a barred Holland, about 15 weeks old and just started crowing last week. Zoning laws in our town prohibit us from having roosters over 4 months old so I need to find a good home for him soon. He is protective of our three...
