I have a friend hatching some SLW eggs. I've read on day 3 you can sex them by their wings, does anyone know about this process or if its accurate? I don't want to end up with more roosters I have to get rid of.
I have a GLW that is supposed to be a pullet, came from a hatchery. She is right about 5 months old, maybe a little older. The other day I noticed these saddle feathers, most pictures I've found of GLW hens find have saddle feathers like this. The comb only recently started getting red, which...
Oh yes he's definitely a rooster, he's a black rose comb bantam. I love him, he has such a good temperament! I don't have a good pic of him though. But here is my silver Phoenix bantam who is also pretty nice, the bantams are more my pets really lol!
Thanks! I will try to get a better pic tomorrow in the daytime, it looks to me like the feathers are still filling out. The only reason I questioned was because this particular chicken looks slightly different than my other 3 Bo girls who are just a bit older and bigger. This ones feathers are...
Thanks everyone! I looked up that breed and that's exactly what he looks like, I also have a pullet that I wasn't sure what she was and she looked identical to the pics of silver Phoenix!
I think he's beautiful whatever he is lol!! He also has a wonderful temperament, he will let you pick him up and will sit in your lap for some attention so he's a keeper!
Thanks much! I am desperately hoping for at least 1 pullet. I love this breed and these are the only slw I have, but if they are both roos they're gonna have to go and I want to keep them!
This bantam rooster came from a hatchery and is supposed to be a slw, however he doesn't look like any slw I've ever had or seen. Does he look like anything you recognize or is he just a mutt???
Thanks so much for the input!!! Yes I absolutely lobe wd's I believe they are my favorite! I was hoping these were pullets since I already have 2 bantam roosters and I don't want to have to many. I also have a rlw hen who is absolutely beautiful but she isn't the nicest temperament wise.
I was afraid he was! I have 2 and I was hoping for at least 1 pullet, it was super hard to get a pic of them separately. So what says to you cockerel so I can try and compare to the other one?? Like I said this is new to me so trying to learn as much as I can!
Hello! I'm new and would love some feedback. I'm relatively newer to raising chickens and I have 2 slw that are about 2 1/2 months old now. I'm hoping they are pullets but I just can't tell, they both look just alike except one is slightly bigger than the other. Can anyone tell by these pics...
