    Perfect Hatch

In the past I always used a GQF Sportsman's Incubator to hatch large numbers of eggs, but I recently bought an R-Com King Suro incubator to try it for smaller hatches. I just hatched my first batch of chicks in it yesterday and had my first 100% hatch. Needless to say I am very pleased with the...

    Duck Breed?

I incubated some duck eggs that I bought from someone who had multiple breeds. Any idea what these are?

    Frustrated

I have a homemade cabinet style incubator and I am having a heck of a time getting the temperature uniform throughout the whole cabinet. It's seems to be the warmest in the front center part, a little cooler in the right hand mid-section and even a little cooler yet on the left hand side. I've...

Why The Wide Range of Humidity Levels?

Can anyone tell me why there seems to be such a wide range of suggested humidity levels depending on the source? For chickens, Texas A&M suggests a Wet Bulb Temp of 86 which translates to 60% RH. My RCOM incubator booklet suggests 45% RH. The Brinsea handbook suggest between 40 and 50% RH. One...

    Fast Again

    Surprise!!!

I always move my eggs from the incubator to the hatcher a couple of days before the due date, or so I thought. I had forgotten to write down a batch of 64 Coturnix eggs on the calendar. My wife contacted me yesterday while I was at work to let me know the kids heard baby birds in the incubator...

Pheasant Eggs Pipped This Morning-UPDATED w/Pictures

Several of my pheasant eggs were pipped when I got up this morning and so far no more progress. This is my first time with pheasants and I'm wondering if that's normal or if I should be getting worried. I don't wan't to open the incubator door and let out any moisture to help some out, but I...

    Double Yolk

One of my young jumbos that just started laying had a very large egg with two yolks in it. Anyone else see double yolks in the quail eggs?

    Coturnix Eggs Pictures

The top row of eggs are from my jumbo coturnix that just started laying. The second row is from my regular coturnix that have been laying for 2 or 3 months. The two pullet eggs on bottom are for size reference. Aren't they pretty eggs...? The rest of the pictures are just some closeups of the...

Need Suggestions From Some Brilliant BYC Minds

I am going to be going out of town soon for 3 or 4 days. My problem is how to make sure my quail have enough food and water while I'm gone. I live way out in the country and don't have any neighbors to check on them for me. Are there any decent, inexpensive wateres/feeders that will hold a few...

    Completely Amazed!

    Brooder Question

I need a way to regulate the temperature inside my brooders while I'm away at work, etc... The temp outside may be 78 outside and 90 inside the brooder when I leave for work, but then it may be 102 outside and 108 inside the brooder when I get home. Is there a good way to install a thermostat in...

Three Firsts In All In One Day!!!

I got home late today and checked the incubator first because I had 35 guinea eggs due to hatch today. I was VERY surprised when I counted because all 35 hatched! My first ever 100% hatch on anything! I also had my very first snow white guinea in the batch of 35 that hatched. Then I went...
