Review by '' on item 'Barnevelder'

I have one Barnevelder hen in my flock. She is never mean to the other chickens. She is definitely my best looking chicken. Whenever anyone looks at my flock, they always point her out as their favorite. Most are surprised "a chicken could look like that!". However, she is very shy and nervous...

    Having more than one coop

I started off with a very small flock (and so a very small coop). When we decided to increase our flock we built a new, bigger coop. The old coop is not in our current run, so the girls can not get into it. However, it has been very useful to have an extra coop available. We had pecking order...

What color is my roo and is he an Ameracauna?

Hello! I am not really sure what breed he is but I had an Easter Egger rooster and he looked almost exactly like that. Easter Egger/Ameracuanas are not official breeds so they have no official colors. They can be any color.

    Chicken Breed Focus - Hamburg

I had one Hamburg in my first flock. I got her randomly in a mixed group. I would not recommend this breed for beginners, but she was my favorite in that flock! She was so beautiful and very smart. I loved how clever she was but she did sometimes outsmart us. She would hide her eggs all over our...

Yes I have taken care of the plants. The rest of my flock is in a run, but Ferdie was free ranging at the time.

    What breed is this rooster?

I am not sure what he is but I don't think he is an Easter Egger. I had an Easter Egger rooster and his wattles were much smaller than your rooster's. Good luck!

    Ferdie the Rooster

Hello everyone! I have had chickens for many years, but something that I have never dealt with was roosters. That was, until this summer. My dad goes on daily walks with my dogs and one day he saw a black and white chicken walking by the road. It was not one of ours so he assumed it had...

    Feed 24/7 or no?

That is a really good question Lilyput... I would guess from the time they are fully feathered to the time they start laying eggs? I'm not sure though...

    Feed 24/7 or no?

Yes, I have always let my chickens have access to food all the time. I give mine special treats in the morning, but regular food all day long!
