    I have 20 isa browns, they tend to mature early. It nearly killed me waiting for eggs, but it's almost imaginable for me to think some people wait 30+weeks!

    I feel sorry for the people who have had I wait so long! My girls are just turning 20 weeks and already 10 out of 20 of them are laying. The first day that they laid I got 3 eggs, when they were 17 weeks old.

    You can expect them to lay at the earliest- 16 weeks. Most chickens lay around 20 weeks old. I think what your referring to is the egg song. Chickens sing a song that goes like this " buck buck buck BUGAWK" they do this after or before they lay an egg.

    Depending on how big your area is for them a 250 watt might be just fine. I use pine shaving for my chickens over 5 weeks, but for chicks I use straw. Make sure to either have medicated feed or buy some medicine powder and put it in the water. This is just to keep them healthy.
