I have a problem of my brooding hen moving from nest to nest, I have a 3 nest setup, she will stay in one for awhile, then move to another, here is what I think, the other non broody hens lay eggs in the others and so she hops onto those and so on, soooo should I make the other 2 nest...
The other hens steer clear of her, I have 3 nest boxes right next to each other, they will use the farthest from her, but most go into the nest on the opposite side of the coop. They are very well behaved!
I too caress her everyday, and yes she clucks too, but it is a different type than regular, very soft sounding, I love my girls! But them boys are a handful lol!
Have a Barred Rock hen broody, don't know how many she is setting on, she has been on the nest since last friday 4/28, I have tried to give her water and food , but she will not take either, is this normal? the other hens will not use the hen boxes to lay, they have found a old nest box, on the...
Mine are doing the same except for the egg eating, I was getting 6 to 8 eggs a day, now I am down to 1 egg, which is my youngest RIR hen laying it. My 2 New hampshire reds have quit along with my 2 Black Australorps, I have the white leghorns but they have not started yet, though I have 1 older...
And they are beautiful boys, very well behaved.....and they do have very shrill crows, high pitched, whereas my RIR's are very low pitched crows, I got these with a batch of hens from a neighbor, she let them run wild, so they could be mixed, but these were the only type of chickens she had...
Thanks for everyone's replies, I have got to rehome 2 maybe 3 of these guys, just want to make sure they go to a good home. Anyone have any ideas of the best way to rehome them? I know I could put them on craigslist, I just don't want them to be table food, I couldn't bear it.

Here are a couple pics of my roo's, compared to my RIR Roosters (which are younger) they are small, and full grown, I am going to be thinning my flock and 2 of these white roos have got to go.... but would like to tell the next owner what they are.
Thanks,
Brian

And if you select a local breeder who selects purposefully and practices good mangement, you stand a very good chance of great success.
I do not know if there are any locally, but I will check around and if not I will drive a little further to get the good stuff!

Thanks everyone for your advice, I really love the look of the BR's, and once I know what I have, roo's and hens, I am gonna go from there. I do know I do not want to buy any from the country mart, tsc, rk, as I am thinking of buying a incubator down the road, to add to my flock, plus if I get...
