That's as good a picture as I could get. It looked like it was opening up a bit today. She has no discharge from eye or nose so I don't think it's respiratory.
hello all,
i free range my hens and rooster during the day, and yesterday i noticed that one of the girls was off by herself in the woods which is unusual. This morning, her left eye was completely swollen shut. She isn't hurt anywhere else so i'm thinking one of the other chickens pecked her...
HI! this is more of an observation and wondering if i am the only one with an odd roo. :) My roo started doing a sideways quick step yesterday whenever i get near him and the ladies... he is a typical roo and is very protective. Anyone else have a guy like this? trying to catch it on video...
Hi Michael! I originally got 6 Rhode Island Reds as chicks.... one turned out to be a roo , and then something took 3 of the ladies. :( We apparently didn't have our coop secured well enough. :( lesson learned. So now i have Richard the rooster, 2 RIR's, 1 buff orphington, and 2 barred rocks.
I do have a question for ya... I free range my hens during the day and then put them in the coop at night... they are 20 weeks old and I just switched over to layer cruumbles. They will not eat it. :( are they eating enough during the day in the yard/woods ? I don't want them to starve!!
