    We have 4 chickens that are laying hens we added my 12 chicks about a month ago at 10 weeks. Anyways one of the chicks went missing on Tuesday. We were not super surprised as ours are free range however it randomly showed up in the coop at the end of today... Anyone else ever have this happen...

    That is helpful news we live in northern MN and it gets so cold here. It is our first winter with chickens. I have not used any heat lamps yet even though it's been about 20 at night. My chickens are starting to look real fluffy.

    Sick new baby chick

    So after 48 hours in the mail I got my new day old baby chicks yesterday morning! Out of 15 I have one that wont eat and can barley stand up. Any advice or ideas? I've tried feeding her out of a baby dropper and she wont take the food.

    You may laugh but currently my chickens are laying in these : http://www.walmart.com/ip/Whitmor-6581-2711-ESPR-Espresso-Woven-Shelf-Basket/19869304 I filled the bottom with dirt to make them heavy added pine chips to the top. Used a old bookcase flipped it on it's side and put these on top :)

    I'm sure the month of January they will be spending most of the month in the coop. So after 2 weeks with no eggs I caught the chicken laying a egg in the nest box in the coop yesterday.
