Thanks everyone. I really appreciate you all taking the time to write. I will take all this great advice into consideration. No more washing. Soap, amount, cracked, washing all could have come into play. And having a tummy bug probably played into it.
Fat Daddy, I'll be sure to wash them down...
Thank you for all the responses. Maybe it was the cracked one? For now on they get tossed, even if I think I cracked it going into the pot. Oy, I really hope I'm not sensitive to them.
Is 6 really a lot? She's a bob and her eggs are much smaller than other quail. Now I know why they call them...
Thank you. I noticed one floating as it was boiling which is when I saw it was cracked. They will get tossed for now on!
Do quail eggs have a bloom or just chicken eggs? Your husband, is this only with quail eggs or chicken eggs too?
I find nothing when googling except salmonella which...
I know this is an old post but I am experiencing the same problem as your wife suddenly. Has she been able to eat quail egg since?
This week I had severe stomach distress shortly after eating my quail's eggs two different days, 5 days between. I have eaten them before a few times with no...
I was so proud of my deviled bobwhite eggs today, until I was violently ill.
Earlier this week I made them fried (over easy) and was sick. There is a stomach bug going around, but both times I had eaten quail eggs a few hours or less before becoming ill. It first happened Saturday, then today...
"That Quail, Robert" is great! I bought it from Amazon after Omelette decided she was staying.
Omelette is a hen - Bobwhite (just like Robert, who ended up being a female.)
Hi Kendradillon,
I've been told that Omelette has "imprinted" on us (even though they technically dont?) because there were no other quail around. So I would try separating that baby and see what happens. Keep us posted! If you want to see Omelette, I post a lot of pics on instagram.com/mylilzoo
Hi folks. Hope it's OK to post this here. I haven't found too many others on here who, like me, have found themselves with indoor pet quail. Though I have had so much support on here (sooo many questions to start) and finally feel I have this quail pet thing somewhat figured out (i think)...
Jazzy, I love your setup. Very inventive and creative.
My daughter has asthma. I totally understand your dilemma. We found ourselves with one "pet quail" after she was the only hatchling of a dozen eggs. We tried to release her but she cried and ran back to us 3x. I spent loads of time...
Would you believe I just walked into my hair salon and they had two huge bags of playsand from an event (used for weight)? I'm going to take it home. I think the Chinchilla dust is to fine and, well, dusty. Can't wait to switch it out now :)
Thank you! I ordered the Manna Pro today. I read about the ACV. I will put it in her bottle when I change it out tomorrow.
She loves her dust baths. I had it in her home but she was using it every day. I was afraid that was too often so I was only putting it in once a week. I'm using Blue...
