They hatch out fine and don't look overly wet just normal wet and they just stay that way and when they are done hatching and I take them out they are dry but the down feels stiff and they still look wet. I am only hatching a few at a time so the not rubbing on each other theory might be the issue?
I did an eggtopsy on the three eggs that didnt hatch and they were dead and upside down. Yolk by the aircell. What causes this? They were incubated aircell up in the turner.
One of my 3 white leghorn "pullets" looks different then the other two..I'm thinking roo? Pullet in front looks like the other one and the guy? farther back a roo?
I don't think the last four eggs are going to hatch :( and to top it off, my first chick that hatched on Easter that was fine yesterday is not doing good this morning :( no pasty butt..idk what's wrong
Thanks for all the advice. The only safe place in my house for the brooder was the bathroom and there is limited space so can't build a bigger brooder. They will be happy to have some more space to stretch out.
My chicks are a little over four weeks and getting crowded. I'm in Wisconsin and it's still getting down into the 20/30s at night. Can I move them into the coop earlier then six weeks if I provide a heat lamp?
