    Hello!

Hi Kris, Congrats on your first flock! It’s like an addition to the family, this chicken keeping thing. Your birds will remain healthy and productive for at least three years, with a little bit of sensible care. Their coop should have a vent, or hole up high, near the roofline, to let excess...

Cockerel attacked by fox, wounds in back. PLEASE HELP!

Get the fox! Maybe you could call animal control to set a trap for it. Or get an electronic dog barking alarm, to startle him when he sneaks around. I would put the bird back in with his flock as soon as he is foraging happily again. The longer he is kept away, the harder his re-entry will be...

    Is this a Roo???

I see a young cockerel! It’s the red fleshy new wattles, and just the red flesh. My girls had smaller combs, and remained pale until nearly laying age. His tail is starting to develop too, for 8-10 weeks age, looks like a boy.

I have been working at the school here in Pilot Point, and presently have 27 eggs in an incubator..in the principal's office! They are due to hatch on May day! We...

Alaska Chix Mom starting all over again!

I've raised barred rock, black australorps, and even some meat birds, when my children were small. Now that everyone is on their own... I find myself easily talked into a "chicken project"! My duplex neighbor and myself ordered up 6 pullets from Murray McMurray Hatchery. This is border-line...
