What do people do for grow out space? My little wooden side coop is making a moist little nightmare of a space for the growing out chicks. I'm scared of respiratory infection and frost bite if I put them in there.
Two weeks old and starting to show their colors! They're the least cuddly chicks I've had, but I'm hoping they'll get friendly when they hit puberty. That seems to be what happens with my other chickens.
I've got 6 pips, two hatched, and four peeping in the egg. One of the hatched ones has mushy chick disease though. If it survives, I'm making it squiddles.
The first time I did a hatch, I stayed up all night on my laptop next to the 'bator listening and watching while readying webcomics. When I took a nap in the morning, they all popped! Go figure, right?
I'm hoping that they can wait until tomorrow after work to pop this time.
SO exciting! I have this problem where I want to peek when the eggs wobble. Very hard to resist the urge to manhandle while they're making all these sweet little noises and rocking and piping.
That makes a lot of sense. They're in the egg carton in the 'bator now. I can hear some peeping! It's only day 19 though so I'd like it if they could wait a bit. :P
