    ???Sick birds or just aggressive???

Hi Everyone, I have 7 turkeys. I had 8, but one of my heritage bronze died after about 2 weeks. The grain store I buy my chicks from said that most of the heritage didn't look to healthy when they arrived from the hatchery, so I figured that was what happened to that one. My turkeys are 8...

How long before a broody hen will lay eggs again?

Just was curious because my egg production has taken a rapid decline. We only have 7 chickens that are old enough to lay and I went from getting 7 eggs a day to only about 3. My customers at work are missing their farm fresh eggs!

First Chick hatched from a hen! A few questions!

Separated the mom and her 2 chicks. One chick hatched, but was dead in the laying box. She had 9 eggs from another farm that she was sitting on, so 3 were fertile, but the others were not. I will post some more pictures tomorrow.

    Egg Candling Pictures-Day 1 through Day 18. (update:LOST my hen pg.4)

Very Nice! Congratulations. I found my first broody hatched chick today about 50 ft outside of the coop. Almost stepped on it since I wasn't expecting it to be out there. Saw that atleast one of the other eggs the beak was poking through, so I can't wait to get home from work in about 11...

First Chick hatched from a hen! A few questions!

Hi everyone! I had a RIR go broody, but at the time we had no roosters. So I bought some fertile eggs from a local farm and set 9 eggs under my broody hen. Well today was day 21 and some of the eggs are starting to hatch. She gets very disturbed when I try to look under her in the nest box...

Very Loose Bright Green Poop and chick is not walking! HELP!

Hello, I have 3 Aracauna chicks that are 3 weeks old. 2 of them are much bigger than the other, but all were born and purchased on the same day. We had them sharing a brooder with some White Leghorns that are 5 weeks old. Yesterday I moved the white leghorns into a different brooder. I...

Two different due dates...what to do?

Hello, This is our first time hatching eggs. We bought a dozen and a half eggs from a chicken swap and set them on Sunday March 21. We also tried setting some of our own eggs that we were sure were probably not fertile (bantam roo, Angus, RIP) with full sized hens. But figured it was worth a...

    Question about free range turkeys

Hi Everyone, We have our turkeys in a pen in our barn right now until I finish building them a more permanet home. They are only about 6 weeks old. I was wondering if I let the turkeys out during the day, will they come in at night like my chickens do? This is my first time with turkeys and...

New to chickens...any help identifying would be great!

Thanks Green Family Farms. Any idea with the two easter eggers of the sex? They came from a straight run mix, and I am just worried I am going to end up with too many Roos. We have sexed pullet RIRs, but I think one of the twelve is a Roo, and we have Grasshopper. Hopefully no more as I...

New to chickens...any help identifying would be great!

Ok, we have 12 RIR that I bought from the local grain store, but we picked up 4 more at a chicken swap this past weekend. #1's name is Grasshopper. We are told that he is a Roo, but no idea what kind of chicken #2's name is Bunny and we are told she is a hen, but also no idea what kind of...

A big wave from Forks, WA

Welcome to the group. I am new also. Maybe you can get your chicks sooner than you think. We have ours in the house right now as it is still too cold and damp for them to go outside.

    New from NH!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My wife has had chickens before when she was a child, but I am new to raising chickens. We got twelve Rhode Island Red pullet chicks last week on Tuesday. We also picked up 4 chicks that are a little older at the chicken swap at...
