Eggers - Gender Guessing (Hatched 9/12)

Hard to tell at this age, specially without knowing what breeds they are. So without any additional information, I would say they all look like girls to me. Usually in some breeds like Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, the females usually have fairly noticeable tail and the males tail feathers...

    Roosters behaving odd with younglings!

Oh dear, you have a problem in your hands. Jester has been de-throne and he will never be the same. I had this happen to my top rooster many years ago and I managed to keep my top rooster with the younger roosters after quite a time of separation, but he never again became the top rooster and...

Help with breed and age please.

they look to me like 3 barred rocks (if they have single combs) or Dominique (if they have rose combs). the other 3 could be Rhode Island reds, New Hampshire reds or Red sexlinks. I would lean more towards Rhode Island reds. You will have lots of nice eggs from both breeds.

New to Chickens - Question about Chicks

First, make sure wherever you are placing them is warm enough. At 4 weeks they may not be fully feathered and they get cold very quickly, you may need a heating lamp, just for a little bit. I would not let them out and about until they have gotten used to being handled. They are not going to...

    Cockerel trouble.

As sadly as it is, you need to carefully let them duke it out, there is a pecking order in the chicken world and only one can be at the top. Sorry to say, I have 6 weeks old chicks are have a few males and they are going through the same thing. The key is not to let many gang up on one, but in...

    Mama sharing- silkie sisters

I have had this happen to me before. if the hens got along very well, prior to going broody, then really the chicks will have 2 moms and they will just go back and forth between one and the other if the moms separate to forage, which I will doubt they will do very much, since sisters tend to...

    "White" Araucana mix?

First, let me give you the bad news, you cannot buy Araucanas from a hatchery, even if they sell them under that name. Now the good news, what you have here are Easter Eggers and as such, they can be any color you can imagine. most places sell the darker ones with the stripes. But you have a...

Can anyone tell me what duck this is

what a beauty. Kind of looks to me like it could be a Mallard duckling.

    Is this really an Ameraucana?

she looks to me like an Easter Egger, that plumage color is very popular among Easter Eggers. Some places use the terms loosely when they come to chickens that lay pretty colored eggs. I could be wrong, but I believe Amaraucanas come only in 3 solid colors, black, white and blue. Easter...

    Help what is this?

Looks to me like a minor injury, If it is cold where you live could be cold burn. It could also be a scratch with something sharp or even a sign of squabble/fight.

Some pics of my barred rocks, black star, and nhr

Beautiful birds, thank you for sharing. The one you are thinking is a cockerel, is it a silver spangled hamburg mix? The reason I ask is because I have some and the males usually tend to be much, much lighter that yours. Not to say it couldn't be a male, but I have never seen one this dark...
