My mom and I went out just a short while ago to check on our chickens and we found our buff Orpington rooster dead under the hen house. He was on his stomach and his face was black. I didn't get to take a pic because my grandpa buried him pretty quickly. What could cause this? He was the picture...
Our hen was sitting on 4 eggs. This morning we found one dead, possibly due yo hatching difficulties and one very healthy chick. Just went back out and the hen was out of the box with the chick dying on the ground from a leg wound probably from.one of other chickens. I checked the box and found...
Thanks for the responses guys. It helps me learn a lot. Bumpercarr had a good question as well and that helped me learn a lot because I felt at the time that lacing was the wrong word for me to use.
Sjisty your beautiful birds make me want to get an incubator and get some beautiful birds like...
What is going on with my buff Brahma pullet? I don't plan on showing her or selling any off her offspring as I have a mixed flock and I know my chickens aren't anywhere near perfect. But I'm still curious about her patterning. She just started laying and I've never seen her go through a molt. I...
Thanks that's a relief to hear. We have another hen who just started laying two weeks ago and her eggs have been just perfect so it leaves me thinking my brahmas system just isn't used to it yet. I'll have to look into getting some oyster shells though. And the epoxy idea is great too!

Wow just finished reading the entire thread! Very aderpable. Amazing the emotional ups and downs through this entire thread!
I have a strange faverolle as well. Not derpy, moreso paranoid for some reason. I got her when I got my brahmas by mistake. So now I have 3 brahmas, Henrietta, Scarlet...
Yes I might be interested in a brahma roo! How old are your friend's? My brahma pullets are 3 months old now so I need either a roo their own age or a really gentleman like rooster. We currently have a BO cockerel that was given to us by a city friend, he has a wry tail and the girls are scared...
Nah, I think most people here like it when people are that excited about their chickens. I had read about onagadori in a book so its really interesting to hear from people who actually own them!
Thank you One Chick Two! Very useful information. Glad to hear from someone firsthand on what to prepare for. I will most certainly arrive early. I wonder, are they opened earlier than the actual open time or do they make everyone wait outside until they allow them in to browse and make...
