. I hope you find what you are looking for at the show. How long have you been raising chickens?

Well there's a big misconseption on Phoenix tails but good Phoenix should have tails anywhere 3-5 feet long. That's with proper care feed and of course genetics. I haven't measured myroosters tail but I would say about 3 feet and he will be 2 years in February. Takes about 3-4 years for first feathers to molt and then the feathers take off. But there's also American onagadori and high onagadori percentage Phoenix. Those are the ones whose tails get over 8ft long. Those usually get tested for the non-mounting gene. To test they are placed along in a pen with high roosts and far away from other birds to prevent hormone spikes. If there is no moult after 4-5 years, you have a non moulter. (Fethers have to be full blood of course)

That's my almost 2yr old golden

This silver is about 6 months in this picture. His tail was over 2 feet(high onagadori) his hen pecked all his feathers off when breeding so they are not impressive and he is about 1 year old. His offspring however have 2ft tails and only 5months old granted They didn't have tails for the first month and a half because momma hen picked them all off.

I wish they were pure onagadori but they are preserved by japanese gov't. Their history is really cool actually.
Are you still looking for Brahmas? My friend has 5 roosters and plans on selling 3-4 of them.

@HippyChick425 I will take him from you.

Yes I might be interested in a brahma roo! How old are your friend's? My brahma pullets are 3 months old now so I need either a roo their own age or a really gentleman like rooster. We currently have a BO cockerel that was given to us by a city friend, he has a wry tail and the girls are scared stiff of him because he is a jerk. So something is going to have to be done about him. Do you have any pictures of your friend's roosters? Oh and Merry Christmas by the way!
