    Looking for Appenzeller Spitzhauben.

I live in Washington State and have been unable to find any Appenzeller Spitzhaubens(?) in my area. Will I have to break down and mail order from cackle. I’m actually only looking for a silver spangled rooster. Mine died recently after a being in some mystery declining health for a couple of...

Whoops didn’t mean to post picture twice 🤷🏼‍♀️

    What color is this?

This roo is almost two years old. He’s a part Sultan / frizzle bantam mix. He looked like he would be a splash as a chick - white with a few black spots. And then, at about four months he started to look like he fell in a very muddy puddle - and he still looks that way today. 😬😆

    Sizzle with double genes

I think I’ve ended up with a sizzle hen with a double dose of the frizzle gene. I purchased her as a young hen and she looked fine, but now she looks like she’s going through a molt and has a lot of bare skin. I got the sense her breeder was careful to avoid double dosing, but seeing naked spots...

    Name the rescued roo's breed!

BYW - I have a ten year old porcelain d’uccle hen (from a feed store). ‘Liitle Missy’ is the sweetest thing ever. She follows me around the garden talking to me all the time (but she doesn’t like for me to pick her up 🤷🏻‍♀️😊).

    Name the rescued roo's breed!

OMG - I’ve just rescued what is apparently a Mille Fleur d’uccle rooster. I’m guessing you are too far away to get the two together. ❤️😆

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

Geez, you guys and your ‘Mille Fleur’ d’uccle’s’ 😆. Now I’m wishing my porcelain d’uccle hen wasn’t ten years old. 🙄. But I’m kinda of glad to have him - he seems really sweet.

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

🤞🤞 The hens are far away (half an acre). Which is why I was putting some faith in their being less aggressive.

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

This is such a dilemma for me, because they seem surprisingly contented with each other. My gut is that if at some point they are all on the roost together tonight before bed, I leave them that way. They are pretty close to the house and I’m a light sleeper, so if someone is getting picked on in...

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

That was my gut feeling. I’ll put him in a big dog crate tonight and work on constructing new housing tomorrow and hopefully find him suitable hen companions. (I do have housing in the works). I did find it quite interesting tho’, how comfortably he seemed to settle in with the three big roosters.

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

THANK YOU! I was starting to wonder about that because I have a very old tiny porcelain d’uccle (who is the sweetest little thing). ❤️

    Rescued Bantam Rooster - Breed?

The neighbors saw this bantam rooster in vacant wooded acreage near us and thought it might be one of mine. It wasn’t, but I thought it needed rescuing from being coyote or owl dinner - and now here we are 😆. He’s tiny - but what is he? - because he’s really cute. And now I’ve nowhere to put...

Still thinking pullet, right? 16 weeks.

OMGosh! I have a Heinz 57 rooster who I think has a bizarre comb - but this one may top it. 😆

    English Orpington Hen or Roo?

My English Orpingtons are about 41/2 months old now. It’s been pretty clear for awhile that I had three roosters and seven hens, until …, this ones combs and wattles started to get bigger and redder. When she’s next to a rooster she looks like a hen, but when he’s next to the hens he looks like...

    Cockerel Issue

I feel your pain with the one bad rooster. For years we had one lovely bantam rooster at a time to nine or more hens. (With the exception of two or three silkie roos happy to be buddies in a bachelor pen). I was always in awe of how watchful and selfless the bantam roosters were with the hens -...
