    What breed

On second look on the pic I am thinking even the red chick is a roo.

    Tips please!!!!

A bowl will be too shallow for the chicks you can make use of a small dish instead or a small waterer will work just fine.

    Wild Roosters Attacking my flock.

Ok i get it, yes that is a gamefowl 100% and they are very aggressive. They will fight just for the fun of it. Maybe you can build a pen for your chickens to keep them safe and an Orp is no match for these guys.

Newbie! Right in my city downtown!

Welcome to BYC Predators like raccoons and cats will usually attack at night so build the coop so it is nice and protected. During the day though provide nice hideouts like bushes and/or some little woodens shades so the chickens can hide from the birds of prey. But for the moment just relax...

    Tips please!!!!

Before getting the chicks you need to get a brooder ready for the chicks. You will need a heat lamp, a feeder and waterer alongwith some flooring like wood shavings or hay (I use hay as I have ample lying in my backyard). Ensure to keep waterer clean and put some small rocks or weight in it so...

The one on the left is a barred rock and I think its a cockerel whereas the one on the right looks like a puller but I am unsure of the breed.

Are the wild roosters some breed of gamefowls? Coz they tend to fight unnecessarily.

Hen is laying outside of roost, On the Ground. Need Ideas

You can go ahead and move the eggs, the hen won't be bothered but she might come again to lay in the open. You'll have to keep an eye out where she goes to lay eggs. If she lays regularly at one particular time like early morning or noon then you can put her in the coop during that time...

    Help!

Yes cornish crosses being the broiler chicken breed will definitely grow to be big. I have had a cornish cross rooster who was raised on normal organic feed but grew up to be around 4 kgs i.e. approx 8-9 pounds.

My chicken coop. 7 chicks currently in the brooder.

I have periwinkles planted in my backyard and the chickens don't like to eat em, just sometimes they pluck the leaves for fun.

Anyone feeding a homeade organic mix that is not too expensive

Well I use a mix of corn, wheat, oats and millet I believe this a good mix as it has the necessary composition for the growth of chickens as I use this feed for chickens of all age groups although for chicks younger than 6 weeks I do stick to the pellets as I find it beats every other organic...

Sexing 3 week old Swedish Flower Hen

My guess would be that its a roo as the comb at 3 weeks old is a orange color whereas that of a pullet would have been pale in color. Just a guess though there are chances of me being wrong but as u said it - its fun anyways

My chicken coop. 7 chicks currently in the brooder.

That is a nice coop there One suggestion though is that you can plant some small bushes inside the run or keep some potted plants as chickens sometimes like to rip off some leaves and enjoy the company of plants.

    Help!

Yes it does look like a cornish cross but it'd be better if there is a full view pic of the chick.

    HI Chicken Lovers!

Actually regarding pure bred chickens they are available only at the research institutes as the people here prefer hybrid varieties. Coming to the color of yolks, yes the yolks are orange of my backyard flock as compared to market eggs which are yellow. My aseels have yolks that are like much...

Hi there, I just slaughtered my first roo today just like yours he was a nuisance too. Knowing when to assist - day 21 patiently waiting on peeps .. then dead in the shell

My chicks usually start hatching around 18-20 not later than that. If your chicks are peeping for like almost half a day you need to intervene. Some chicks are weak and tend to have a difficulty breaking open.
