I was making my own mix from wheat, oats, barley, sunflower seeds, flax, and kelp that I was buying from Azure Standard. I then started getting the scratch and peck feed since it seemed cheaper for me by the pound than buying all the ingredients and mixing myself. I was wondering if anyone had a mix that was organic that they were feeding that was cheaper than buying the scratch and peck. I have looked for weeks and tried to simplify my ingredient list to get the cost down from Azure but it still seems so expensive. I really want to mix my own so I can ferment it to last longer Plus they really seem to like the fermented grains. I tried buying a bag of organic pellets at Tractor Supply for $24 and they went through it in a matter of days. I really want to stay organic. My local feed store only sells the organic pellets. I would love to hear any ideas or recipes anyone else has to lower the cost. Thank you in advance!
