I am using a half inch sheet of plywood in front of the nest box for the purpose you described and the narrowness of it may discourage roosting.

I would agree with the posts that suggest doing a search for some free plans on the web. I did both, purchase plans and searched for free ones. The ones I purchased were no better than the free ones so save your money. What I ended up doing is developing my own plans after looking at many...

I am just finishing the coop and starting on the run. I am wondering if it is better to have feed and water in both the coop and the run or just the coop? I am also wondering if I have two different feed and water containers if I do use both locations if that will confuse the hens? Thanks.

Making sure the water is not in direct sunlight could reduce the speed in which the algae grows.
