    Spurs on my hen?

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Yard work is never done. I don't know how old she is but the feed store we use has always given us fairly young hens. As I said, my daughters bought them and they really didn't know what questions to ask. This hen lays almost every day, but the broody hen I...

    Spurs on my hen?

I don't think she's very old and she's very docile. The 2 older hens, a Red Sex Link and an Australorp both let her know her place in the pecking order. I'm about convinced it's just an anomaly with her. Maybe a 5th toe. I'm not going to be concerned about it. Was just curious. Thanks for all...

    Spurs on my hen?

Not sure how old she is. My daughters got her from the local feed store on April 25th so I haven't had her for even a month yet. She is laying but the eggs are pretty fragile and the color is varying shades of brown. I also call her pucker lips.

    Spurs on my hen?

Thanks for the quick replies. Who knew? I'll try to send pictures. She's the sweetest hen I have. Loves to be petted and follows me everywhere. Her name is Bertie.

Thanks for replying. I'll check it out. I had another one and she gave me really large brown eggs. Unfortunately I lost her. Gertrude has never been a good layer. She seems very healthy. I'll try to add a picture later.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check it out. Not really up on all the different breeds.

Hi, I'm Sharon. I have used this site for information for a couple of years, but just decided to join. I just have 2 hens right now but will be getting a couple more soon. I have a black Australorp, Henrietta, and a kind of light red that I was told was an RIR, Gertrude. I've had RIR's before...
