Hello! I know this thread is very old but I also have a broody hen sitting on 4 White leghorn and Black silkie mixes. They are due to hatch in about a week and I was wondering if you had any adult pictures of those chickens. If you did that would be great! Thanks!!
Thanks for the story, it really helped us. We decided to move her into the garage. She has a nest, some space to walk, and food and water. It is about 15-20 degrees warmer in the garage so hopefully they will hatch!
Ok so we candled today and here are the results:

Hello! Yesterday morning we came across five eggs under our broody silkie. We brought them inside and candled them and to our surprise... Chicks! We found chicks developing in 3 of the 5 eggs and maybe something in another one. We figure that they are all between 2 and 3.5-4 days old...

Great info!! Does anyone know of anywhere that you can get them near Southern NY? And also how are they with chickens? The info above made it sound like they can be very mean to the chickens... Thanks, brotchicks
Hi today I noticed that my oldest hen has a swollen face. First I noticed it in one of my 15-16 week old pullets then it seemed to go away, few days later I noticed it in one of my 13-14 week olds. Although in my 15-16 week old it seemed to be the top eyelid that was swollen. In my 13-14 week...
Muck Boots!! All different colors/patterns and different styles. I think the Mid are the best because anything taller is too hot in the spring/summer, but anything shorter let dirt get in.
