My darling has bumble foot I think

Thank u so MUCH 🥰 Daddy and I will do more research and set up a safe 'surgical' bay. I hope we can relax him enough. I hate all these things happening to the sweetest animals. Not that any animal deserves or should have injury or illness, but chickens just get some of the worst things.

    Tonic Mobility, Catontonia, Sleeping?

U know we really want to. But my heart can't handle the loss again. I was hospitalized after the last hen was attacked. I want him to be happy, he's such a gentleman, is there such a thing as conjugal visits?

    Tonic Mobility, Catontonia, Sleeping?

We rescued a 🐓 at 7 weeks old, who had been with no human interaction. He has always been a good 🐓 to his 🐔, but they have all died. He cried for weeks afterwards. Very clingy, depressed behavior😢. He would stand by our vehicles with his shoulders slumped and let out sad cries. I gave him as...

    Chicken sneezing, nose crusty, help!

I am looking on BYC for the same reason. But when I do beg for others wisdom, there is some advice I don't always agree with. Esp culling birds. There r some idiots, jerks, creeps, losers, and lowlifes on all websites. And when I ask for help, I do expect there will be some snarky comments...

SWOLLEN INTESTINES AND CONSTANT FILTHY BUTT

Thank you, Kathy. Its very hard for people who don't have fowl to realize how INTENSE our love and devotion is to them. They aren't food for us, and many BYC folks. And even if they are food, the birds personality and antics are a thrill!

Review by '' on item 'Nite Guard Predator Control Light'

We LOVE this! It still works, and it is 3 years old. The coop has never had problems with night thieves, where they can see it.

Review by '' on item 'Automatic Baby Chick Fount - 2525'

This was an expensive mistake. It was such a good design to provide clean, fresh water for our flock. However, the way the hose attached wasn't practical. They didn't figure out how to use it.

Review by '' on item 'Little Giant 3 Gallon Waterer With Metal Handle'

Even without adding water to this, we could not use it because there were little fastner pieces missing. We used some things we had around garage. The water makes it very heavy and the metal rod broke right away. The water doesn't come out well, or we could have used it on the ground. But...

Review by '' on item 'Little Giant7 inch Galvanized Rabbit Feeder AF7SL'

I bought this because I thought the layer pellets would work well in this. They fell through. The dust remnants fell through onto coop floor, not good for rodents and is wasteful. It has sharp edges. They pull it down, since this contraption has flimsy hooks to secure.

Review by '' on item '1 Gallon Poultry Waterer'

I've had one for 3 years. It is great for small flock and very durable. However, it pulls the dirty water back in. If you screw it closed too much, it doesn't let out the water evenly. If you leave it loose, you will fill the thing with bacteria and filth.

    CAN SINGLE HEN SURVIVE?

We have only been raising hens for 3 years. Everything we have learned is by BYC or real life experience. We are NOT experts. This is my opinion. We started out with 4 newborn pullets. They were a close and loving flock. Except, one became 'the rooster'. Eventually, 3 of the girls died...

SWOLLEN INTESTINES AND CONSTANT FILTHY BUTT

It turned out our girl was VERY sick. We had her put down at the vet. It broke our hearts, but she was not getting better after all that veterinarian intervention. She had an egg that went outside the tract. It was not seen on any of the diagnostic tests the vet did. He did a free autopsy...

What to do with a single hen?

I really liked the suggestion of bringing her closer to your home, garage, or similar. We lost 5 of our girls in less than a year. We have one 3 year old left. She gets plenty of sun where we live, and I think somehow that helps. She gets treats all her own. She has one on one time with us...
