2015 HALLOWEEN Hatch-a-Long, Join us IF YOU DARE!

That sounds like a good plan! Our eggs go into lockdown on our wedding anniversary. Almost accidentally had chicks on our anniversary! lol. We would have had to stay home. So it worked out well. I candled yesterday and had 100% fertility and all but 2 eggs had healthy veins starting to show. So...

I'd like to join! I set eggs 4 days ago. So a little sooner then the 10th! Lol. We set 48, some are silver sebright eggs. The rest...

    Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

One of my Lav Chicks. I purchased 10 yesterday from am ABC breeder. They are beautiful. My phones pictures do not do them or their color much justice. The parents of these chicks were a beautiful even shade of lavender. I also purchased black Ameraucanas from show quality stock from a few...

    Silkie thread!

I have a question. What color is my Rooster? His mom was a Blue Silkie. Father is the white silkie pictured below. I added pictures of the Roo in question. I have chicks in the same color as him, that came from the same breeding pair (blue hen/white roo). I pictured one of them so you could see...

    How long is too long?

I waited about a full 24 hours honestly. I candle at day 5. I can usually see nice veining at that point. I do not throw out any eggs though, unless I'm 100% sure they are not developing. I candle again around day 10-12. I usually bring a pencil and make a check mark on for sure developing...

I have 5 chicks and 7 for sure new pips and zips. I can't get a good look at the others. Of them 12 were the refrigerator eggs, 4 never developed and I have 3 chicks, and 3 pips and 2 zips currently of the remaining refrigerator eggs! So far it's been a marvelous turn out! :)

    Show off your Black Australorp

These are my Roos. Archer and Raptor. Lol. They are 10 month old babies. The white spot is a glare, he has no white on him. The others are other Roos in the yard. We like them, much more gentle then those Rhode Island red roosters! And growing bigger and bigger.

    Show off your roosters

This is Paco and Taco. My favorite boys. They follow me and each other EVERYWHERE. Taco is my Dominique Roo and Paco is a Cuckoo Marans. A dog ripped out Pacos tail feathers and they are just now growing back, a little! Taco is a big baby. I carry him around the yard with me and love petting all...

    How long is too long?

So, the same thing happened to me a month ago. My beloved blue silkie hen was shredded by a nasty fox or something similar. She even laid me a beautiful egg sometime right before she died. I happened to have a dozen of her eggs in my fridge for eating purposes. They had probably been in there...

    Crooked Neck Week Old Poult!?

Update; The turkey poult still has an odd neck. It is running now though! It's balance is almost 100% normal now and it is running and still has no difficulty with eating or drinking. My dad and husband built me a huge brooder for them so they have tons of space to run about. They are loving it...
