    When to move to coop????

Hello, first time chicken mom here again. Ok, my chicks are now just over 5 weeks old and they have grown so much. Being such a novice, I have been told that they should stay in the brooder up to 8-10 weeks. Then other sources say they can go to the coop when all the feathers come in but...

    JUMPING CHICKS!!! HELP!!

Hello again, well my chicks are now 3 weeks old and they are growing so nicely but maybe too fast. See, I made my brooder myself and I thought it would work out great but now I am afraid they may get out and get hurt. My brooder is made out of 2 large cardboard boxes put together in an octagon...

    Just brought home babies!!!!

Hey everyone, well we lost one baby last night. I have no idea why. The other 5 all seem great, chirping, eating, drinking and even flapping their wings. Is this normal? I cleaned the brooder this morning of all dropping just in case he had something contagious. I hope to God it was nothing...

    Just brought home babies!!!!

Thank you everyone for making me a little less nervous. When you don't know anything then everything seems wrong. I think I have beak dipped all of them and they have all seemed to find the water once, I think. A couple of them have already found the food and started eating but not all. You...

    Just brought home babies!!!!

They are also laying with their heads all spread out, please see the picture, are they too hot? The thermometer only reads 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and I was told that in the first week it should be 95. It's warming up since I just turned on the light when they got home.

Hello, I am a first time chick mom and I just brought home my 6, 4 day old, chicks. I am already a worried mom. The were real loud, chirping, in the car on the way home and as soon as I got them home in the brooder they seem to fall asleep. Is this normal? They are so quiet. Is this what...

Good I'm glad I picked well. Thanks... I get to pick them up tomorrow and I am so excited. They were hatched yesterday or the day before. I have a quick question, I made a nice size brooder for them and I got a starter kit with everything, I hope. But I read somewhere that when they are...

    First time Chicken Mom

I did some research on this and I wanted egg layers but I also wanted friendly birds. I picked 3 buff orpingtons and 3 Plymouth rocks. I originally wanted to get Golden Comets as well but I couldn't find anyone in my area with them. Did I do well?

    First time Chicken Mom

Hello, I'm Nancy in California. I am brand new to chicken but I just bought a house in the mountains with land and thought I could try my hand at Chicken Farming. I'm starting with only 6 chicks but we will see where it goes from here. I got my brooder built and ready, just waiting until...
