Finally got the big coop done! 16 x 8 with a 5 x 8 storage and feed room. It has a automatic pop door that we set to open 60 minutes after sunrise and set 30 minutes after sunset. The pop door has a wireless feature that tells us when it opens and closes and allows us to remotely open and...
I am interested in the poultry net fencing. Is it the same concept as electric fencing but instead of a wire it's the whole fence that is charged? So what all would I need to purchase to get my poultry net up and running?
I raise and show bulldogs.....we have a litter every year or so just so I have something to play with in the ring. We are waiting for Baby Poe who is only 13 weeks old to mature enough to show. They are a awesome breed.
Yes...That's the breed...They fixate on certain things and every Bulldog has a different trigger. One might hate aluminum foil.....another maybe hats....A third one might be freaked out by garbage bags...... They are weirdos...Lol
Chicken Math.....lol...Is that like the new Common Core math.....I can't figure it out either :) We have a second coop in the works....so I have a place to keep my Wyndottes separate if we decide we have something nice enough to reproduce.
Bulldog puppys are notorious for getting into trouble. Older mature Bulldogs are pretty nurturing so I can see them trying to mother and herd the chicks. Poe will be my trouble maker at 12 weeks....to him they are squeak toys that flap and run.....Game on....lol
We have 3 and a 1/4 Bulldogs and they are our babies Grace, Kate, Sara and Baby Poe <3 Really hoping they get along with the new chicken additions but I'm gonna have to watch baby Poe....He already likes to lick them....hoping he's not taste testing for latter :(
I've been reading up alot on different breeds and have heard mixed reviews on the Astralorps . Most of the ones that we dissatisfied with the temperment (friendly, aggression, flighty) were people that had bought from hatchery's or Feed stores. I'm kinda wondering if temperament in chickens...
We have 12 Astralorps, 6 Americanans, 12 Buff Orps and are waiting for 16 Black laced Red Wyndottes...... We got straight run so we would have some to eat and girls to keep. As much as I hate to eat our babies I am more concerned with what my family is eating and how humanely the birds are...
New to BYC and the IL Thread :) We are in N. IL...Lee County, and hoping to finish our coop this week (as the chickens are out growing their brooder rapidly....lol ) We literally got the chickens before the coop and then the race was on. I'm excited to meet more IL chicken fanatics !!!
I guess they probably think I'm a chubby chicken hawk....lol I'll try the side approach. And your right....The screaming from the brooder sounds like I'm having chicken salad for lunch :( Poor little things....I can feel their hearts just a racing. Thanks for the in site from their point of...
This is probably a silly newbie question but we have been handling our 3 week old Astralorps and Ameracanas daily and they are getting more flighty. I sit by their brooder and talk to them trying to get them used to people and voices. Our week old Buff Orps are really friendly and run to my...
I am still Pimping my Coop and have decided on installing a automatic coop door. There are tons of them on the market ! Has anyone purchased one that they like or dislike? I'm pretty handy with tools so installation doesn't intimidate me. Battery or solar options would be nice. It must be...
