Hi all-
I have a problem with my hens. Lots of feather picking, feather loss, bruising and some small wounds. I assumed they were doing this to each other. Mostly butts, around tail feathers and a few heads. Figured winter boredom, pecking order issues, etc. I've been using Blu-kote and peck...
I will try to do that. I should be able to take a pic tonight. Then I'll just have to figure out how to post it....I've never done that.....LOL
Thanks for the help!
Yes, I learned that as I was reading about them. Thank you. We started the panacur last night. She is still doing ok. Alert, eating, pooping. Activity seemed a little better last night. She's pooping although still has diarrhea. Sometimes she squirts out thick clearish liquid with just a...
Picking up the panacur susp. after work. Will start tonight. Silly question......on the off chance that she does lay an egg.....is it safe to eat while deworming?
Also, what is internal laying?.......I've seen this come up in posts but don't fully understand.
Ok. I haven't done any deworming. She does have diarrhea. We did another warm butt bath last night which she seems just fine about. There's no sign of an egg so I feel less likely egg bound as well. She seems the same otherwise...alert, eating a little, she just seems a little uncomfortable...
OK, thanks for the suggestions. We'll look tonight.
We watched for a while last night as she was in her isolation pen. She relaxed and started eating and drinking. She at one point pooped out a rather large amount of thick clearish poop with a little green area. But she continued to act...
Hi-
My 9 mo old Sliver laced Wyandotte is not acting right. My sister noted that she didn't come down off the perch when she went in this morning. When we went in tonight she also stayed up on the perch but everyone else came down for treats. I offered food in my hand and she ate a little...
Hi everyone-
Looking for advice.......I'm new to chickens this year......I got 5 hens that hatched April 1st.........one is an Americana.....I think I spelled that wrong.
Anyway, she has been laying well......roughly every other day.............she is my only bluish egg layer so I know when...
I should add that we have not allowed them to free range out of the enclosure because we live in the country with LOTS of predators. But we could consider that we when are able to sit and watch. (The yard they are in isn't that close to either house so I wouldn't be able to see them out my...
So, for these guys, we just keep trying? we have been really lucky with the weather here so far. The problem with putting them in the run together is that by the time we get home from work it's dark now and they are wanting to go in. I'm afraid to put them all in the big coop together at...
when you say "the older ones aren't old enough and the younger ones aren't young enough"......can you elaborate? I was told that we shouldn't put them together until the little ones were the same size as the bigger ones. Was that the wrong information??
I'll try to get pics attached when I can.
Hi all-
This going to be long winded so I apologize in advance. But we are having a hard time integrating 2 younger chickens in with our original flock. So if you'll bare with me......here's the story.......
We are new to chickens this year. Got our first 5 chicks April 2nd (2 days old)...
Hi-
I hope you're still on this site because I have a couple questions. I LOVE your coop. We are new to chickens and building our first coop and I find myself using your pictures A LOT!
Do your chickens roost on the bar in front of the nesting boxes? I don't know if we need to put something...
