Saturday before dusk I went to lock the remaining 5 RIR's in the coop, there were only 4. My girls had the whole 1/4 acre horse corral since last spring to roam in. I walked over to the far back corner and found her ripped up. In the morning I went to the coop and out of the corner of my eye I...
I put sand in my run but I put wood shavings in my coop. With the poop board my coop stays really clean. I got a 1/2 a bag from the place in Ridge I think its Residential fence.
Concidering my coop/run cost about $1,000 I know my husband would have thought this was s good idea. Personally I'd rather deal with my own chickens and the winter as well.
When you get a can of spray insulation to make sure you close up any possible drafts in your new chicken Taj Mahal even though your husband insists there are no drafts.
So I went home that night pulled out the old rolls of deer fencing we had, climbed thru the brush getting smacked in the face by branches, trying desperately to avoid anything that even remotely resembles poison ivy or any of the sort. I secured the back fence and the girls can't get out!
Ok so...
Hi I'm not sure where you would find baby chicks now I got mine in April from Neptune feed store in Calverton. You can check with LI poultry in Riverhead.
My 6 chicks are about 6 months old. I've been letting them out of their run for some free time daily since they were tiny babies. They normally stay in the horse corral or barn. I began unsupervised free time months ago and I would check on them periodically.
Well yesterday around 3 I let them...
I go out to the coop at 5:10am I have no electricity in the coop so I put a solar shed light in it. I turn the light on and open the door to the run. I go back about an hour later and usually find 3 eggs in the best box. I turn the light off and let the girls free for about an hour. Then I let...
That's how my door opens and a friend was saying you can make one with a car wiper blade motor. That would make my life wonderful along with a solar powered shed light with a timer!
$4 a dozen I still see them in the store for less. I just started by giving a 1/2 dozen as samples to a handful of people at work and they must have liked them. I have 5 RIRs & 1 Wyndotte.
I brought 2 dozen eggs to work yesterday for someone. Another person handed me a empty carton I told him Wednesday. Today I got an order for another dozen and someone else wants 6!
I think I need more chickens!
